Nameberry Style: Guide to the Season’s Hottest Sales

Nameberry Style columnist
Elisabeth Wilborn scours the web for the Top 12 summer buys — all under $35.

It’s simple.  A smart shopper shops off-season, and there is no better time to grab a great deal than in July!  Everywhere I look the stores are practically giving away their summer wares, and I’m casting a keen eye for things that can be worn next year or layered for the fall.

This is an especially great time to capture brands on sale that are normally out of your price range.  We’ve rounded up a selection of darling (in our opinion) picks for babies and kids now under $35.

Start your online tour at England’s Stella McCartney Kids.  Normally too steep for my pocket book, most of this season’s well-named items are now a whopping 50% off.  We love this unisex “Max” llama tee (#9) for the autumn and this little “Ella” floral dress (#4).   Covet that pattern as much as I do?  Then don’t miss the to-die-for “Polly” raincoat.

Also from across the pond is family favorite Mini Boden (#3 & #5). Their signature bold prints are perfect for this time of year, and can really inject some energy to a flailing boys’ wardrobe.   This is even a great company for that hard-to-fit pre-teen crowd, and the sizes (and sales) go all the way up for Mom & Dad.

Are bright patterns your thing?  Then be sure not to skip Polarn O. Pyret (#12).  This Swedish staple has been outfitting Scandinavians for decades and is now newly available in the U.S.  They’re definitely key layering pieces for the fall and winter.

Also perfect for layering are the hand-printed original designs from Brooklyn’s own Winter Water Factory (#2). This young label has been getting a lot of attention from stores like Land of Nod and Garnet Hill, so you’ll be in good company.

Egg Baby (#6 & #7) and Janie and Jack (#8) have well-crafted classically designed clothing that will wear well and stay in style for years.  Every little boy needs a good newsboy cap.  Like the classic look?  You’ll love all this season’s blue and white stripes at Tea Collection (#1 & #11).

Boundary breaker Crewcuts (#10, J.Crew’s children’s line) manages to capitalize on the tricky balance between being timeless and on trend.  Few of the sale items are cheap, but it’s a must-stop for chic duds.  Look for THE piece they’ll wear every day, and snag it fast!

Hope I wasn’t too bad of an influence.  May you survive the wrath of you other half.  😀

Seen any fab sales lately?  Share them with your fellow Berries please!  Want to continue to stay up to date on the latest steals?  You’ll find them (and me) at The Itsy Factor.
