It doesn't actully means "star", it means "light". "Svet" is basically "light" in Russian.

I've loved this name forever, but, after talking about it with a girl from Eastern Europe, apparently it's considered a "stripper" name there. So it's off my list.

I've always LOVED this name! But I would feel weird using it having no Russian heritage because I feel people immediately think of Russia when hearing it.

I think this is a really elegant name, and I love the meaning, but I feel like "Svet" would be really difficult to pronounce. Lana would make a nice nickname though.

I always really liked this name, idk if I'd ever use it because it does scream Russian and I have no Russian heritage. Also I can see Svet easily becoming Sweat (feel free to correct me on my pronunciation if I am wrong).
