The white rose is one of my sorority's symbols. I think this name would be a great homage to it. Probably wouldn't use it as a first name, but it would make a lovely middle name.

The Virgin in the Ice is one of my favorites as well...I especially like to reread it at this time of year when it snows for the first time. And Ellis Peters certainly knew how to choose names! I'm at work now & don't have access to my books...I'll have to look when I get home to see if there are names that you didn't mention that I love. Of the ones you listed I love Isabel & Iveta, Isouda & I do remember off the top of my head is Daalny. Such an unusual & cool name.

Ohhhh of course. I vaguely remember thinking "That's pretty". I do like The Rose Rent (though my favourite is The Virgin in the Ice, or Brother Cadfael's Penance. Or even Summer of the Danes [that awesome ending!]). Let's see, names . . . I like Sanan too, very spunky and yet serene. (I'll stick to names I've only heard of in the Cadfael books, or very seldom outside.) Sioned, Peredur, Columbanus, Annest, Godith, Richildis, Radulfus, Ivo, Edwy, Lazarus, Iveta, Avice, Olivier, Ermina, Meriet, Roswitha, Isouda, Melicent, Elis, Eliud, Cadwaladr, Rhun, Melangell, Fidelis, Benet, Eluned, Annet, Conradin, Adelais, Jevan, Fortunata, Generys, Gunnild, Pernel, Heledd, Turcaill, Ieuan, Remy, Benezet, Mariam, Isabeau, Jovetta. My favourite is probably Iveta.

The Rose Rent, IIRC...Nigel's daughter. It's not mentioned until the very end of the book, when Nigel visits Judith to present the rose as rent & brings his daughter along. It's great to find another Cadfael fan & name nerd! What other Cadfael names do you like? Sanan is another favorite of mine...

Really?? Which one? I'm a huge Cadfael fan AND a huge namenerd, so you'd have thought I'd have noticed that!

Bobcat108 Says:

Rosalba is used in one of Ellis Peters' Brother Cadfael mysteries, for a five-year-old girl w/very blonde hair.
