This is neither a word nor a name in Spanish.

I love this name, by itself or as a nickname for Geneva.

We are Neva Eva Eva getting back together
I know it's not pronounced that way but still.

Neva is also English. 11th to 17 century. Meaning new. It's also a river in Russia.

Loving this as a nickname for Geneva (pronounced Nee-va), along with Neve

Simple and beautiful. Might be a good way to subtly honour Russian heritage too as my first thought was the Neva River in St Petersburg.

Haha as an American with Mexican born grandmothers, I hear native spoken Spanish often. I always get annoyed with the inaccuracies of the pronunciations for Spanish names on Nameberry and in baby name books. They are almost always wrong! If it sounds unappealing, it's probably mispronounced hahaha

Thank you! I looked on Nameberry and it said it was pronounced Nee-A-bays which totally put me off. The way you pronounce it is so much nicer!!

It's pronounced NYEH-vehs :)

But this opens up the issue of n-eye-vuh which I do find easier to deal with than n-eh-vuh since it's not a word but still annoying.

And now that I've posted that I realise it's probably a lot easier for me to google that!

How is Nieves pronounced?

snowsbeloved Says:

I'd just spell it Nieva to eliminate the NEHva problem out of the way and also open up the opportunity to pronounce it like Nieves (Spanish word for snow).

Niva is an alternate spelling if you're worried about the never part!
(:

Essa Says:

I'd be very worried that people would pronounce it Never all the time and that would really annoy me!
