I don't get it.

You don't honor a dead president by naming your child a bastardized, cutesified version of their name. What's wrong with the original spelling? And when did "i" become a cuter letter than "y"? As an Emily, I take offense. ;-)

Personally, I wouldn't list Kennedy among our nation's great presidents...But hey, that's just my humble opinion. Just please don't choose this name for a kid merely b/c you think it sounds cute or b/c it brings to mind images of photogenic, glamorous rich people. There are a million billion cute baby names to choose from that don't immediately bring to mind a specific major historical figure (with a dubious legacy, fyi), and there's something tacky about choosing a name like this without really giving a thought to the history behind it.

I think Kennedy is a wonderful name, and I love the nickname Kenna. I prefer it for a boy, simply because its on my boy list (Kennedy "Edy" Rhys). I don't see any need to mangle the spelling of it. It just seems unnecessary. But to each her own!

I've always loved this name. After having 2 daughters my husband named, I finally got my way and am now the very proud mother of the headstrong 13 month old, Kenadi Nicole.
