I think this is a really pretty name. I see the potential for several nicknames as well: Demi, Mellie, Ellie or maybe Zee.

When I was a child, I read a book called "I Hate My Name" (it was one in a series of fictional books about kids with problems). The girl in the book was named--you guessed it--Demelza. I have never heard it anywhere else up until now (don't know the Poldark series so maybe that mitigates it, but still, I'd think twice about using it).

Gorgeous name that deserves more attention! Demelza from Poldark is a wonderful character, but I first heard the name used on the minor Harry Potter character Demelza Robins.

I want to like this name, as I do love the character in Poldark... But I honestly am not a fan of the name. Too bad Poldark himself doesn't have a great name, either (Ross)...

I really like Demelza. It's strong, spunky and a little bit witchy. The best mixture :)

So many lovely, undiscovered Cornish names out there - I hope some catch on!

It's not "complex and challenging." It's a beautiful name. Watch Eleanor Tomlinson in Poldark. :)

I've never heard this name before. Maybe it should be left to the Cornish.
