Actually, many Chinese characters are pronounced as “Chen.”
If here it’s talking about a very frequently seen Chinese surname, “陳,” the character means “old” or “display.”

Also, in Chinese, any character can be used to be a name. You can even use “笨” (stupid) if you want.😂 My point is that characters don’t really belong to any of the two gender. But indeed, some of them are usually used in one gender more often.
