I've never heard this used in the UK.....

This is pretty cute, actually. I've never heard it as a nn for Charlotte. :) Reminds me of names like Charity, Cassidy and Constance. I like it. Seems like a Charty would for right in with a Sylvie for a sibset. I would use Charty as a middle name though, or Charlotte as a first.

What a strange name. I've never heard of it in Britain. Horrible nickname too!

Is it too hard to add an I and make it Charity? Charty sounds like shart which defecate and fart at the same time. Charlottes should stick with Charlie, Lottie, or Char. This is awful.

bootsie Says:

Reminds me a bit of "shart", especially since it's a derivative of Charlotte and may be pronounced with a soft ch.

I love when Nameberry mentions British popularity of a name. This description suggest Charty is really common in Britain when in fact I have never met or even heard of a Charty in my whole life. Charlottes I know go by Charlie, Lottie, possibly Char and simply Charlotte. No Chartys around here!
