Question: is this name pronounced "all-TEHR" or "all-TAH-eer"? It's wonderful either way.

This name sounds and looks very smooth, just rolls off in a cool wave and gives off a debonair kind of vibe to me. Its meaning of falcon and the astronomy association are awesome, and Altair in my mind seems like a more streamlined version of non-name related Alistair. I like the fact that it's very unique-- I've never met an Altair IRL or even heard much of it on NB-- but it still has a very appealing and accessible sound. I generally like boy names starting with Al-, and Altair is no exception!
