Squier is an uncommon masculine name with English origins, functioning primarily as a surname before occasional use as a first name. Historically, it derived from the medieval occupation title 'squire' (from Old French 'esquier'), referring to a knight's attendant or shield-bearer who was often a nobleman in training. As a given name, Squier has remained exceptionally rare, appealing to parents seeking distinctive historical names with aristocratic or occupational connections. The name carries connotations of chivalry, service, and nobility. Some may recognize it from Squier guitars, a brand owned by Fender, which might influence contemporary associations with the name.

Ingemar is a masculine name with strong Scandinavian roots, particularly popular in Sweden. It derives from the Old Norse name Ingimárr, combining elements 'Ing' (referring to a Norse fertility god) and 'márr' meaning 'famous' or 'renowned.' This name gained international recognition through Swedish boxing champion Ingemar Johansson in the mid-20th century. Despite this notable bearer, Ingemar remains relatively uncommon outside of Scandinavia. The name carries connotations of strength and Nordic heritage, with a melodic three-syllable rhythm that distinguishes it from shorter Nordic names. For families with Scandinavian connections seeking a traditional yet uncommon name, Ingemar offers historical depth while remaining recognizable and pronounceable in most Western countries.

It may be a modern invented name combining elements like 'Col' (possibly from Colin, Nicholas, or Coleman) with 'layer' or '-ayer' ending found in surnames. With its distinctive sound and contemporary feel, Collayer might appeal to parents seeking a truly unique name without widespread recognition. Used as a given name and a surname, Akhtar is a celestial choice with a grounded feel. Used among Persian, Punjabi, Urdu, Pashto, and Bengali speakers, it means "star", though if you follow its etymology back to Middle Persian, it may also refer to the planets or any other glowing celestial body.

Additionally, in Pashto, it may be associated with the Persian New Year (Nowruz) and with Eid Day, owing to the greeting akhtar de mubarak sha, meaning "May your festival be blessed". As such, "blessed, fortunate, lucky" is a more figurative meaning of Akhtar, and makes it perfect for a baby born on the day of a celebration.

While Akhtar is a unisex name, it does lean masculine in many places, with Iran and Iraq being notable excepts. Also transcribed as Akhter, Akthar, and Aktar, it appears as an element in spiritual compound names such as Akhtar-ud-Din ("star of the religion") or Akhtar-ul-Iman ("star of Faith").
