A variation of Chryseis, this form was created by the 14th-century Italian poet Giovanni Boccaccio in work Il Filostrato, in which she is the faithless lover of the Trojan Troilus. While some sources suggest the name emerged thanks to Boccaccio confusing Chryseis and Briseida (Briseis),it is likely that both Chaucer and Shakespeare were inspired by this form, when they wrote of Criseyde and Cressida respectively.

The name has seen some real-world usage among Spanish and Portuguese speaking communities, notably in Venezuela, Mexico, Brazil, and the Dominican Republic. Meaning "gold", Criseida could even have the nicknames Crissie, Zadie, and Sadie.

Kameo is a feminine name with varied potential origins. It may be related to the word 'cameo,' referring to the carved gemstone art form where figures stand out in relief against a contrasting background. This connection suggests a name of distinction and artistic value. Alternatively, it could be a creative modern variation of 'Camila' or 'Kamila,' names with Latin roots meaning 'attendant' or 'free-born.' The unique spelling with 'K' gives the name a contemporary feel while maintaining its melodic quality. Though relatively uncommon in official records, Kameo has gained modest recognition in recent decades as parents seek distinctive names with artistic associations. The name's brief, rhythmic sound pattern makes it accessible across cultures while remaining distinctive and memorable.
