Two Syllable Names for Girls

Catlinn is a modern feminine variant of Caitlin, which itself derives from the Irish name Caitlín, the Irish form of Catherine. The ultimate origin is the Greek name Aikaterine, with debated meanings including 'pure' or possibly relating to Hecate, a Greek goddess. Catlinn emerged as an alternative spelling in the late 20th century as parents sought distinctive variations of popular names. Unlike the more traditional Caitlin or Katelyn, Catlinn remains relatively uncommon, offering familiarity with a unique edge. The distinctive double 'n' ending gives this name a contemporary feel while maintaining its Irish heritage. It shares the nickname options of Cat or Linn with its more traditional counterparts.

Shontal emerged in popularity primarily in the United States during the late 20th century as parents sought unique spellings of familiar names.
