Twin Names: The Best and The Worst
We wrote this week in our new column in the online edition of UsMagazine about Max and Emme, the names of JLo and Marc Anthony‘s twins.
Max and Emme, who turned two on Monday, may not have the most original names on the block, but they’re compatible and make a fine twin set.
Funny that the most popular twin names in the U.S. are still what we’d call too matchy-matchy, with the same first initial and separated by only a letter or two: Taylor and Tyler, for example, or Ethan and Evan.
On the other hand, you wouldn’t want to give your twins names that seemed as if they came from different planets. A pair like Kaylee and Eleanor sound like a cheerleader and a valedictorian, while Theodore and Logan might have been born centuries rather than mere minutes apart.
Since choosing twin names is among the most baffling tasks for parents, and present one of the most fun challenges on our message boards, we thought we’d make this the topic of our next group-produced blog.
What’s the best set of twin names you’ve ever heard — or that you can dream of — and what’s so great about it?
And what’s the worst? Over to you….

Kayt Says:
I went to school with an Audrey and Aubree. Hated that set. In high school, Wyatt and Cindi (not Cynthia, just Cindi) were a grade above me, and I’m in my mid twenties. Kindergarten had Genny and Levi, or Genesis and Leviticus. I babysat for Braylee and Kaylynn. The nicest set I knew was Keven and Kaitlen, I guess. Also had Heather and Lindsay in my math class. I haven’t really met any awesomely named twin sets.
If I had twins, they would be Gideon and Caroline, Gideon and Simon, or Caroline and Daphne.
Rose Says:
I was friends with twin girls named Christine and Shannon when I was little. I couldn’t tell them apart so at the beginning of each day I’d ask one of them who she was and then remember what she was wearing.
I guess triplets don’t count, but I know a set of triplets named Katie, Nikki, and Alan.
Holly Says:
i have twin step sisters name alison and casey and i knew twins name kelsey and kasey, adam and jake, and isabel and milo
Keiley Says:
I’d like to think that my twins (coming soon :p) are lovely named!
Magnolia and Iris
Saranel Says:
My dad and his twin are Donald and Douglas (mid fifties). In high school they had another set of twins a year behind them with the same names. I knew a Hank and Bryce through school but the coolest set I knew were named Jedidiah and Zebulon.
icious Says:
I knew triplets Brad, Chas, and Grant, now adults. I think the assonance in those is an interesting way to link the names without making them overtly rhyme-y.
anonymous Says:
i knew a Trisha and Trista when i was growing up, and I’m in my early twenties.
disa_lan Says:
My grandma had a twin. She is Jessie and her twin was James (he passed away very young) I heard they called him Buddy. She also has twin brothers Wesley and Lesley. I’ve heard of little Zach and Zoe. I like twins names that dont’ match like the ones I’ve listed.
Twins I think would be nice –
Lydia and Evelyn or Lydia and Audrey
Ruby and Iris
Sebastian and Julian – hmmm “ian” ending though.
Julian and Gabriel
Zeke and Oscar
I’ve heard so many nice twin names in the forums. I’ll definitely know where to come if twins are in my future.
Edie Says:
I has twins in my second grade class called Tiana and Liana, yuck. Then there was 2 different families I knew growing up with 2 sets of twins; Ryan and Elliott, Grace and Emily, Courtney and Rachelle, Melissa and James.
Tenley-C Says:
I’m having twin boys and my husband and I are thinking about naming them Damianus and Olivarius. Damian and Oliver for nick names. What do you guys think?
ahappyrobot Says:
Ah, twins. Some twins I know with great name pairs:
Aidan and Kiernan (born in the early 80s!)
Carly and Brooke
Andrea and Brooke
Dane and Chad
Emily and Alex
And others that aren’t as good:
Nathan and Nathaniel (yes, really)
Katelyn and Kathryn (again- yes, really)
Denise and Sherice
Rocky and Rory
Emma (deliverysurprise) Says:
I have twins. Making sure their names go together was very important – they are always talked about as a pair.
We had decided to name them Nathaniel and Theodore (Nate and Theo) but, stupidly, we shared these names and the negative body language, comments, did put us off,despite my insisting with every ‘Theodore??’ that it wouldn’t!
My beautiful boys became Oscar Matthew and Fintan James (Oz and Finn) at 29 weeks but we told no-one!
The worst set of names i have ever heard is Jason and Mason on a forum like this – can you imagine if these boys were identical?! All they have distinguishing them is a solitary initial!! Not my style at all!
Our close twin group:
Oscar and Fintan (Oz & Finn)
Monty and Finn
Alfie and Oscar, Lenny and Frieda (same family – 2 sets!!)
Dominick and Corin
Benjamin and Elizabeth (Ben and Libby)
Joseph and Edward (Joe and Ed)
I think all these pairings are very well balanced, and as you’ll notice, no Jason’s and Mason’s in sight!
LyndsayJenness Says:
There were twins in my grade named Annabel and Araceli, they STILL match their outfits every day, and we are 24.
Elizabeth Says:
My name is Elizabeth Anne and my twin was Rebekah Sue. We were going to be Becky Sue and Beth Anne.
Elizabeth Says:
If I had twin girls I like them to be Phoebe and Nora. I know twins named Jenny (full name) and Jeannie. I think those are way to similar. However the absolute worst is Heaven and Nevaeh.
Nicola Says:
My mother is named Ann, and her twin is named David, which isn’t that bad, though she was actually supposed to be Diann. That got nixed in the bud by my grandfather.
However, my mother’s twin had twins–identical girls–and they are named Carmen and Melissa.
I have to admit, I don’t really like matching twin names, and would opt to give twins (if I have them) completely different names.
Julia Says:
I went to school with twin girls called Hope and Faith. They always said how much they hated their names.
LucyJane Says:
If I had twins today;
Camden Julius and Owen Patrick
Serafina Rose and Sebastian Oliver
Serafina Rose and Lillian Giada
Gigi Says:
I’m friends with twin brothers named Chris and Pat
I’m pretty sure their full names are Christopher and Patrick. I think these are solid names. I have a friend who has twins and they are named Savannah and Shelbi. I don’t care for these names at all.
Jas Says:
I know little girls called Hannah and Cassia which I think are lovely together or seperatily.
Patricia Says:
My twin grandsons are James and Andrew. Early in the pregnancy their mother had James in mind if the baby was a boy. When it turned out that she was having 2 boys, she immediately thought of Jacob for the second twin. I discouraged that because James and Jacob come from the same source. So she decided on Andrew instead. I thought that was a good choice because both James and Andrew are traditional, classic names. Only later did I realize that both names also are Biblical, New Testament, two of Jesus’ disciples. I really like the names for our twins because they don’t begin with the same letter, yet sound well together and have an historic/Biblical compatibility. Also, even though the boys are fraternal twins and don’t look that much alike, their teachers and others often say they have trouble telling them apart at first. I think if they had been called James and Jacob that would have just added to the confusion.
Becca Says:
My twin and I are Joshua Andrew and Rebecca Lafon. We’re known as Josh and Becca. We have two sets of twin cousins:
Hannah and Jordan (girl/boy)
Briley and Colby (girl/boy)
Some twins I know:
Craig & Kyle
Ross & Reid
Hillary & Hailey
Anna & Bridget
Dustin & Stetson (I don’t think these two flow together)
Christopher & Brooke
If I had twins I would name them:
Anastasia Rachael & Scarlett Savannah
Rebel Joshua & Anastasia Rachael
Rebel Joshua & Hunter Troy
MPC Says:
I don’t know any twins with particularly horrible names. Actually, I don’t know too many twins at all! Here are the ones I have known:
Christine & Bethany (I love this combo– I also love that they go by Chris & Beth)
Alexis & Francesca (not my cup of tea, but I think they work well together)
Bradley & Sara (boring, but they get the job done)
Wasel & Wael (too close for comfort, in my opinion)
I think Margaret & Theodore would be a good twin set, especially with the nickname potential: Ted & Daisy, Margie & Theo, the list goes on…
Beth Says:
Maybe I watch too much Kiddie TV, but I just can’t get past the fact that Max and Emme are the names of the kdis on “Dragon Tales” do you think J Lo watches that show too?
dancer4life Says:
I have friends that are twins named Elizabeth and Katherine and they go by Katie and Lizzie. I think that these names go well together, but they are a bit overused. I also have second cousins named Jake and Luke, which is a little too matchy for me. There are twins in first grade at my school named Grace and Gabrielle and I like that combination.
emrasmus Says:
I went to school with twins Samantha and Cynthia…and in the class I tutor in (2nd grade) there are twins Kate and Jane…I like Kate + Jane plenty more than Samantha and Cynthia…
When I was talking to my friend about names, she said she wants twin boys, named Damen and Damien (!!!!) I told her if she did that, we would cease to be friends. She’s “changing” them, especially after I told her WHY she should never, ever do that.
Reebs Says:
I had great high school fraternal twin friends who were named Adrienne and Heather, which I thought was a nice combo. High school acquaintance identical twins were named Amy and Becky, not great, but not terrible.
My mother-in-law is named Pam and her identical twin is Ann. That’s a bit too close for comfort for me, but they sort of fit their personalities.
The worst I’ve heard is Merry and Terry – identical girls. The mother apparently wanted to make sure the names matched, so that’s why Merry’s name is “Merry” and not “Mary”. Yuck.
Heather Says:
My Dad knew twins named Ronnie and Donnie (yuck!). I do not like names that rhyme or start with the same letter for twins. I grew up with a twins named Matthew and David, which I always thought was nice together.
Kimberly Says:
I knew twins girls named Avery and Emily and always loved the “A” and “E” combination.
Kathy Says:
My favorite twin names are girls I went to HS with (now in their late 30′s): Anne and Elizabeth. Simple, classic, royal. The matchy-matchy names are not for me!
liz22 Says:
I’ve known two sets of twin girls around my ages (so born in the mid to late 80s) called Danielle and Michelle. These are so bad!
My favourite twin set I’ve known is Sarah and Rebecca. They’re both classic, Biblical names, and go so well together, without being matchy. I hate matchy twin and sibling sets, so if I had twins they wouldn’t be similar in anything by style (ie. they would both be classics).
Sarah Jane Says:
I’ve always secretly wished for twin boys.
Leo & Sam (Leo James & Samuel Rhys)
Alas, twins don’t run on either side, so its a long shot!
Andrea Says:
I’ve known a lot of traditionally named twins or multiple sets with the same initials or rhyming.
Twin sets I’ve interviewed:
Mackenzie and McKayla
Sarah and Ryan
Jane and Anne
Hailey and Kaylee
I was in school with several sets:
Jane and Joan
Blake and Blaine
Sandra and Sheila
Karolyn and Kristen
Christie and Carrie
There was a quad set born here a number of years ago named for the four elements. Mariah, Aurora, Orion and another boy whose name I no longer remember. They were the most clever of the names I’ve heard over the years. Mariah represented wind because of the song “They call the wind Mariah.”
Michelle Says:
I have ten year old twin cousins named Taylor Maytal and Alexa Orly. Everyone tried to talk my aunt out of using the name Taylor for a girl, but it suits it her personality perfectly. The girls’ middle names are also their Hebrew names, which I think are so pretty: Maytal means “dewdrop” and Orly means “you are my light.”
I went to school with twins named Laura and Aubrey (a girl and a boy), and in the grade above me there were identical twins named Eric and Matthew.
Meredith Says:
Timely post! I just found out I was having twins yesterday. I am dreaming of a little Harrison and Eliza or Eliza and Greer. Who knows what I will do if it’s 2 boys??
lems Says:
Worst named twins? Surname: Jewel. Names? Tiffany and Tiara.
Real, and really tacky.
susan Says:
I knew twin girls in high school named Lisa and Teresa. I didn’t like the way their names rhymed. Another family I knew had two sets of boy/girl twins. The first set was Laura and Russell. The second set was Matthew and Catherine. All four names were tasteful and went together, I think.
stephanie_elizabeth Says:
I went to middle school with twins named Serena and Kalena, which is yuck. I like Serena, but Kalena is just,well, yuck.
Our neighbors have twin grandsons named Russell and Trevor. A little country, but it works for them.
There also were two sets of twins born at our church recently. I do not like them (Sam-I-am). They are:
Kylie and Katie
Isabelle and Elizabeth
If I had twins they would be: Cordelia and Susannah, Theodore and Edward, or Susannah and Edward.
kms303 Says:
I know:
Chandler and Chelsea (and their last name starts with a C, too)
Madison (Maddie) and Alyssa
Ryan and Michael, Paul and Robert (2 sets of twins in the same family)
Casey and Caitlin
Alana and Andrew
Marielle and Rachael
Alexei and Gerald (two boys)
vikki Says:
I’ve known a few sets of twins in my life…
Micki and Vicki (My mom’s first cousins. Vicki died at birth in the 1960s. )
Lauren and Harris (Micki’s children. I liked the name set because they sound equally formal)
Nell and Dale (both women. my mom’s cousins. too matchy matchy for me)
Marvis and Jarvis (I worked with Marvis. Way too matchy matchy)
Johnny and James (common names but a good set with the J sound)
Sarah Says:
The worst twins names I’ve ever heard was Dawn and Don.
Mimi Says:
Growing up I knew twin girls named Lorie and Larie. I secretly thought their parents should go to jail for lack of any trying at all.
Mary Beth Says:
A friend of mine worked with twins named Robert and Bobby!
JLyn Says:
My twin and I are Rodger and Jill. Defintely not a match. We were a surprise (pre-ultrasound days) so my parents just went with the names that were already picked out.
Worst–friends I knew growing up–Shelly and Kelly.
I have met a few baby Ellas so I have now decided that I like Ellah and Halle for twin girls!
Novalina88 Says:
I know a Don & Donna, Luke & Jessica, Kayden & Hudson, Nicolas (Nick) & Mallory, Sara & Leila, Sarah & Anna… Those are all the ones I can think of now!!
Meg08 Says:
My younger twin brothers are Brett and Bradley. Not sure what my parents were thinking. They are identical and it caused a lot of confusion. They look less alike now which helps. Plus they live in different states and the clumsy one has scars that distinguish him from his twin
Emily Says:
I really want twins! A few sets of twins I know are:
Jackie and Hailey
Jackie and Christie
David and Jonathon
Ari and Jason
If I had twins, they would be:
Alma and Violet
Alma and Ethan
August and Ethan
Saranel Says:
I always thought if I had twins they would be
Sophia Elizabeth &
Chloe Isabella
I like that they share an o and the middle names come from the same root. Plus my mn is Elizabeth and my cousins daughter born on my 12th birthday is Isobel. Will never work though. No matter how many Sophies and Sophias my dh meets, Sophia will always be the old lady for the golden girls.
Rebecca E. Says:
My mom’s older sisters are twins and there names are Rosamund nn. Ros and Vanessa nn. Vicky, which are not my favorite names, but I feel like they work well together. My cousin also has twin girls named Jessica and Ashley. Again, not my favorites, but they work. I know a set of twins named Maria and Grace as well as a set named Allison and Samantha.
Rosy Says:
I know twins named Paloma and Clio– I think both names are lovely, and are great as a twinset!
JNE Says:
Well, the worst named twins I’ve known (these are children of the 70s) are: Sandy and Sandra.
Other 70s twins:
Samantha and Jennifer
Kathleen and Mark
Joshua and Judd
A pair of naughties twins:
Madeline and Kevin
None of the rest of the pairs are great, nor do they make for awful.
Hmmm, twins, eh? Well, girls, I’d pick:
Eleanor Ivy and Beatrix Fern (or either of those paired with Imogen Lily)
For something a bit more ethereal sounding:
Daphne and Ione
Frankly, those are just my most favorite girl names with a ‘themed’ middle, which I find more acceptable, if still a bit matchy! I think they all have a similar feel.
Boys? Huh! I had a hard enough time deciding on ONE boy name for my son. But, naming someone else’s twins, I’d suggest:
George and Charles
Edward and Theodore (yes, the nns could be matchy on this one, which might be too much! But you could use Theo.)
Malcolm and Walter
Boy/girl twinset? Probably I’d use the names I have named my non-twin son and daughter (Imogen and Oliver). Others I like include the above names:
Beatrix and Charles
Eleanor and George
I guess I think it is nice to have a similar ‘feel’ to names, but matching them in some more obvious fashion is completely unnecessary (but could be fun if done in a less confusing manner than some of the “bad” examples I’ve read in these comments). If you make the names similar but not the same, I fear as a parent that it will be impossible not to tongue tie oneself when trying to get the right name. When you’ve got basically the same name Don and Dawn, you get out of that problem, but where’s the fun in picking one name and spelling it two ways? (And more to the point, these are two individual people, sure they have a cool, close connection, but their names don’t have to be like that! I think most twins at some point wish to be individuals and if they don’t, they can always dress alike.)
Courtney W. Says:
Worst named twin award goes to….(drum roll please)
TESSA & CONTESSA! To me this is essentially naming them the same name. Hopefully, Contessa went by “Connie” for short to avoid confusion.
Other twins I’ve known…
Madison (b) & Monique/ 1st cousins
Bryahna & Matthew/ 1st cousins (They go by their middle names Lucy & Isaiah to their maternal family & Bree & Matt to their paternal family)
Kiley & Kiera/ nieces
Janna & Jauna
Charles & Donald (Charlie & Don)
Eric & Derek
Katherine & Elizabeth/schoolmates (Kathy & Liz)
Mary Teresa & Teresa Mary (Mary & Teri)
Heather & Hillary
Shane & Delaney
Cody & Starr (both boys)
Jason & Tanya
Joshua & Jodie
Jamie & Jodie
Trevor & Travis
Rodney & Rhonda
Cameron & Kyle
Cory & Leslie
Stephanie Says:
I had a Nicolette and Kendra at the girl scout camp I was working at one summer in college (just a few years ago). I felt like they didn’t quite mesh.
But, just the other day I decided on an amazing twin set that I might just use if I ever have twins (but they don’t really run in my family so I probably won’t
):
Anastasia and Amarantha
both come from ancient Greek words/names. both have essentially the same meaning (Anastasia meaning resurrection, Amarantha meaning deathless). Both start and end with A and have tons of beautiful feminine syllables and both were popular in the mroe romantic eras of days gone by.
So yeah, those would be my twin girls if I ever have them. No stealing!
spamwich Says:
I know twins:
Andrew and Adam
Taylor and Hailey
Kimberly and Susan
Jennifer and Jessica
Abby and Bert
Ian and Zachary (my favorites)
I work in social services and there is almost an urban legend about one mother who named her twins Cain and Abel. Poor kids…
Thalia M Says:
I’ll bet I can top everyone. I went to middle school with twin girls named Stephanie and Dephanie. Isn’t that the worst? Don’t you imagine that poor Dephanie always felt second-best in everything?
I also stood behind a girl at the registrar’s office in college. She has having a problem because her records were confused with her twin sister’s. Their names? Tonya & Tanya.
Also, I worked with a guy named Roy who had a brother named Troy! They weren’t twins though, but still. What were their parents thinking?
alice-eliza Says:
I know 4 sets of twins my age:
Jonny & Matty (Jonathan & Matthew)
Rose & Peter
Luke & James
Charlie & Madeline
I think they’re all nice names and go well together. If I had twin girls, at the moment I’d call them Thalia & Evelina, i love those names!
Annie Says:
Some Twins I Know:
Jennifer & Katherine, they go by Jenny and Katie.
Kelsey & Jonathan
Jacob & Hunter
Justice & Robert – umm…
Leah & Luke – I actually like this same initial one.
I know I know more, but I can’t think of them.
Smurphy12 Says:
I really liked the combo of Dotsmoms twins:
Matilda and Eloise! Matilda Adelaide and Eloise Charlotte were just perfect! Good job Dotsmom!
Abby@AppellationMountain Says:
If we had twin daughters, they’d be Rosemary and Helena – Romy and Laney.
If we had twin sons, well … we have no more boys’ names, so they’d have to be A and B.
The best twin set I know is Audrey and Lydia, two of Clio’s (super cute) classmates.
Patricia Says:
For those who “really, really” want twins, I can think of two ways to accomplish this:
1. Have LOTS of kids.
I’ve read that women who’ve had several children, especially close together, will have more hormones of some sort in their bodies which may cause them to double ovulate. (As in the Duggars…. and cousins of my husband whose 9th and 10th children — their last — are boy/girl twins.)
2. And of course, multiples are far more common with invitro than among the general population.
But remember that twin pregnancies have more risk: more than just a single child pregnancy x 2.
I researched this when my daughter was carrying twins. As she was adopted, we don’t know if double ovulating ran in her maternal birth family or what other factors may have caused her to have fraternal twins. We’re just very happy that she was able to carry the boys at 35 weeks and that they were born healthy, after dealing with incompetent cervix and gestational diabetes during the pregnancy.
Pamela Redmond Satran Says:
These are all AMAZING. Stephanie and Dephanie? Poor Dephanie got way worse than second best. And Tanya and Tonya — why didn’t they just hang up a sign that said, “I wish there were only one of you”? Keep them coming!
Patricia Says:
Forgot to ad that our cousins’ twins are Rebecca “Becky” and Benjamin “Ben”.
Sarah Lu Says:
I know twins named:
[girls] Peyton & Mackenzie.
They are both very trendy but they suit the girls.
[boys] Bailey & Cole.
I love both names and I think it’s a great combination.
British American Says:
Beth – the Max & Emme ‘Dragon Tales’ thing amuses me too.
Twins I know of:
Mario & Andreas (1980s UK)
Rowena & Catreena (1980s UK)
(I’ve probably got the spelling wrong on Catreena.)
Abigail & Lindsey (Abby & Lindsey) (2000s USA)
James & Evelyn (2000s USA)
Kieran & Clover (2000s USA)
Gavin & Mason (2000s USA)
~~~~~
I used to like ‘Noah & Jonah’ for twin names, but that does seem a bit matchy and Noah became pretty popular.
I like twin names with the same number of syllables, the same style and different initials. Maybe the middle name could be more matchy in theme – like Ruby & Violet or Lily & Daisy. My daughter is Rose and she has a friend called Pearl – I think Rose & Pearl would be a sweet twin set. I do have boy-girl twin names I like, but I’m not telling.
Emily Says:
My friend told me about a set of triplets named Thunder (m), Lightning (m), and Mackenzie (f). Talk about names not matching! The worst twin names I’ve heard of:
Mason and Jason
Christian and Christopher
Jayden and Jaylen–ugh!
Makayla and Mackenzie
Jayda and Jayden–awful!
Heaven and Nevaeh–ppor kids.
If I had twin boys, they would be Elliott Harrison and Vincent Michael. Not sure about the girls–we’re still working on finding a girl’s name we like!
Laura Says:
Wow – everyone knows so many twins. I’ve only got Edward & Eleanor, and Ethan & Emily in my sphere. I think both pairs work nicely in style and tone, though I personally would not give twins names that begin with the same letter.
Of course, I say that now. I named my daughter Sophie and my dog Skippy, thus officially becoming a crazy “S” person and requiring that I banish S names for any future child or pet. (In my defense, Sophie has my husband’s last name, and Skippy has mine. But I still roll my eyes at myself sometimes.)
If we were ever to have twins, we would treat them as if they were any other sibling set and simply make sure their names fit in sound and style – and I promise neither will start with an S!
Annika Says:
I knew a set of twins in school called Tamara and Rebecca which I think is a really nice combo – I guess Rebecca Romijn must have thought so too giving her daughters exactly those middle names (and the imo not so great first names Charlie and Dolly)
lilli23 Says:
A few twin sets I know:
Jacob (Jake) and Joshua (Josh)
Melissa (Mellie) and Amanda (Mandy)
John and Sean
Richard and James
Emery and Ellery (yuck!)
Jordan and Blake
Mary and Hailey (the styles are so different!)
Annalise and Annabelle
And then triplets: Benjamin (Ben) Nicholas (Nico) and Sebastian (Sebi)
If I had twins they would be either: Juliet and Eloise, Penelope and Genevieve, Henry and Charles, Theodore and Edward, Juliet and Henry or Eloise and Charles.
Thalia M Says:
“My friend told me about a set of triplets named Thunder (m), Lightning (m), and Mackenzie (f). ”
LOL!!! I think that is my favorite so far. Hilarious.
I thought of a few more that I have known over the years. I worked with a woman named Key (her full given name, not a nickname) who had a twin sister named Dawn. That sounds kind of weird, but not obviously horrible until you put them together. She told me they were always known in school as the Donkey (DawnKey) Twins!
Also:
Edwin & Edward (They go by Win & Ward)
and. . . .I know twins named Willie & Waylon!
Rachel Says:
I’ve known…
Angela & Francesca (not BAD)
Lauren & Harrison (a little matchy-matchy but one of the better sets I’ve heard)
Hannah & Madeline – Good
Bethani & Melani – TERRIBLE
Nicholas & Emily – Good
Danny & Donny – TERRIBLE
Sets I like:
Fiona Jessamine & Scarlett Lucasta
Emmeline Violet & Susannah Poppy
Henry & Charlotte
Gavin Rhys & Norah Jane
MollyK Says:
The worst I have heard is Nicholas and Nicole! Yes, really, I also knew siblings with the same names. I want to shout “Your kids have the same name!” at the parents.
Also knew:
Sherri and Terri
Johnny and Joey (I suspect that they had full names)
Amber and Angela nn Angie
My SIL is one of 7 sisters, with one set of twins. I wish I knew all their names to report but I don’t know any other than Kerry and Ellen.
If we have twin boys DH wants to name them Romulus (sp?) and Remus. He thinks he is so funny. Really though, we disagree on names so much I would have him pick two or three names he likes then I would pick my favorite of those and then I would choose a name that I like that goes well with his name. Then we would each get a name we like and they would go well together. I just hope we never have twins!
Chloe Says:
I know twin girls named Naomi and Fiona, and somehow I find this pair amazing! They both fit the same style and sound similar but different at the same time! The only thing I find is that sometimes they are hard to say together and I find myself saying Naoma and Fioni!
JCF Says:
I have known two different sets of identical twins named Jennifer (Jennie) and Jessica (Jessie).
My dad and his sister (France, 1940s) are Patrice and Patricia (terrible!)
The worst though, is a set of identical twins I went to high school with named Bryan and Ryan. They had the same middle name. I also went to high school with identical triplets named Mindy, Megan, and Melissa. It was impossible to tell them apart, and this made it that much more confusing!
Some of my favorite twin combinations I know:
-Alexander and Benjamin
-Nathan and Andrew
-William and Lauren
LucyJane Says:
I just remembered, one of my cousins works in New York City, as a teacher. She had twins in her school…
Ashley and NotAshley
That’s just horrible. Poor kid.
Azure Says:
There are non-identical twins in our district named Pink and Purple. Pink always wears something pink and purple always wears something purple (even if it is just a hairclip.)
Born2Teach Says:
Let’s see, the twin pairs I’ve encountered are:
-Brooke Mae & Kyler Jay (rhyming mn)
-Eli James & Carrie Aldeen
-Sadie & Kirsten (very cute)
-Kristen and Bridgette
-Omer & Eitan
-Kyle & Stephanie
-Liliana & Nayeli (Latina toddlers, beautiful)
-Kathleen & Cassie (alliteration)
-Erik & Erika (realllly bad)
Rosamund Says:
A friend named her twin girls Elisa and Edwina. They receive many compliments on their names.
A few of my current favorites for twins are:
Scarlett and Marietta
Ottilie and Penelope
Atticus and Ottilie
Beauregard and Montgomery
araminta Says:
Some sets I’ve known:
Imogen & Harriet
Emily & Molly (actually triplets, third is James)
Edith & Georgiana nn Edie & Georgie. (Sister is Millicent nn Millie)
Mattea & Rosabel
Phoebe & Hannah
Isabella & Alexandra nn Issy & Ally
sarabeth Says:
Went to school with twin boys name Christan (pronouced Christ-On) and Christoff. Seriously, what were the parents thinking? We called them On and Off…
Justine Says:
I know of twin girls named Melinda and Delinda.
They go by Mindy and Dindy. I only wish I was making that up!
Boston Girl Says:
Verrrry interrrestink, as Arte Johnson once said on “Laugh-In” (yeah, I’m dating myself…so what?
). Off and on since my childhood, I’ve thought it’d be fun to have twins, particularly twin girls.
I haven’t known that many in my time, though. My great-grandfather and his twin sister were named Louis and Bessie; I have twin first cousins named Robert and Roberta (yeah, too matchy-matchy). As kids they were called Robbie and Bobby; Bobby now prefers to be called Bob, but Robbie is still Robbie, since she hates her full name.
In second grade a pair of identical twin boys named Daniel and David were new in my school. I might not remember them, except that I wished I could have the experience of being a new girl. To my everlasting regret, within the year, that wish came true. Should’ve kept my big mouth shut.
Natalie Says:
I only know about four sets of twins:
Kimberley and Leah
Abbie and Jessica
Ryan and Anna
Ryan and Courtney
None of these sets are my style at all.
If I had twins I would name them:
Boy/boy – Archer and Penn
Girl/girl – Daphne and Ivy
Boy/girl – Dexter and Eliza
Smitty Says:
I have fraternal twin cousins (girls) named Shannon and Shaine. I don’t mind the first initial and I like both of the names, they fit their personalities.
If I had twins they would be
Kaya and Riley (girls)
Brody (a family name) and Wyatt (boys)
Even though Kaya is feminine and Riley is tomboyish, I like that they both have the y sound, but in different places. My fiance is dead set on naming our daughter Kaya, so I don’t really have a choice in the matter. Actually, we don’t agree on any names and these happen to be the two girls names that we do agree on!
daelily Says:
Twins I know/grew up with, some worse than others:
Stacey and Lacey
Alicia & Tricia
Brittany & Ashley
Britton & Graham (boys)
Serena & Terena -yikes
Dristyn & Darrian (girls) -names made up at the hospital, would have been Braxton & Bronson if they were boys…
Melanie & Courtney
Janelle & Patrick
Scott & Eric
namedame Says:
Worst pair: Tristan and Isolde…. Proof that people should probably read the literature before using names from it.
Krystal & Terah
Krystal & Kendra
Carolina & Katherine
Andrea Says:
I forgot my own twin cousins, Jessica and Justin
Megan and Sean are the younger twin siblings of the Anne and Jane I mentioned.
Hailey, Bailey, Trenton and Brenton were another set of quads whose mom I interviewed. I thought the combination was awful.
And some recent twins in the birth announcements:
Vanessa and Victor
Shahee (boy) and Rony (girl)
Corbyn and Grayson (both boys)
Jayden (boy) and Jenna
Elise and Claire
Sara and Anna
Keegan and Graysen
Danica and Ryan
Lilyana and Zaedyn (boy)
Austin and Hailey
Kaylee and Katelyn
Noah (boy) and Montana (girl)
Isaac and Joshua
Nakona (girl) and Bronson (boy)
British American Says:
Rosamund, I really like Atticus and Ottilie.
Rachel Says:
I’ve known twins named:
Shandra & Alonzo
Meredith & Davis
Travis & Taylor
Erin & Erica
Tim & Tom
tracylyn Says:
my husband and his twin are named michael and andrew, nn mike and drew, which are VERY popular names (just as much so now as in 1980, i’d wager…), but have a very nice flow, i think.
i also used to babysit twin boys named alexander and elliot, nn alex and eli. love the repeating L sound–coordinated, but not overly matchy.
lemon Says:
Hi, Berries!
My identical twin sister and I are Lauren Elyse (me!) and Sarah Price. Our names sound good together, but I wouldn’t say they are the best – Lauren was more trendy when we were named, whereas Sarah is a timeless classic. It could have been way worse, though, as my grandmother wanted me to be named Cara Irene. Yes, that’s right, Sarah and Cara. Thankfully, my mother vetoed that!
Though I believe we are the first recent set of identical twins in the family, my mother’s grandmother, Esther, was a fraternal twin to Lester. Esther and Lester – oh my! My mother also had twin nephews, Gary and Larry. Their siblings were John and Jane. Serious case of no name creativity, right?
If I had twins, I’d like their names to be more similar in style, for sure, but definitely distinct. For girls, I would choose either Emmeline Ruby and Lydia Catherine or Anna Caroline and Margaret “Maggie” Eliza. For boys, I would choose Nathaniel “Nate” James and Henry Oliver – or maybe Henry Oliver and Peter Benjamin. For a mixed set, I would choose Lydia Catherine and Nathaniel James! I like to think these names work well together…
Oh, just to list some twins I know:
IDENTICAL
Rohan and Bayan (B)
Emily and Anna (G)
Lauren and Amber (G)
FRATERNAL
Kirby (G) and Riley (B)
Jennifer and Stephanie (G)
John “Jack” and William “Will” (B)
Take care, everyone!
Lemon
Alyssa Says:
most twins I’ve known have been pretty averagely-named, not too matchy-matchy:
Brooke and Leah
Seth and Sam
Annie and Sarah
Delilah and Porter (these two are newborns!)
Amber and Bethany
Ashley and Natalie
AND: Darlene and Arlene (these two are senior citizens now)
If I had twins at this point in time…
Maxim Jude and Cael Milo
Gloria Jayne and Violette Marie
for boy/girl I would go with either Maxim and Violette or Gloria and Cael.
Honestly these are just names that are already at the top of my list and I don’t think I would pick new names just to match them up better. The type of names I like are enough the same style that I think it would be silly to make sure two boy names were both celtic or two girl names floral, etc. Even twins come out as individuals; I think I would go out of my way to make sure I wasn’t picking names so they would “match”. But that’s just me.
Christina Fonseca Says:
Children I know:
Isabella and Caleb
Bianca and Giovanni
Elise and Zachary
Adult Sisters
Elizabeth “Beth” and Rebecca “Becky” – both classics
Meta and Veronica – could 2 names be more different?
Gloria and Goretti
Erin and Mychael
Lucila “Lucy” and Guadalupe “Lupe”
Adult Males:
Julio and Hugo
Randy and Sandy – I just report ‘em!
Matthew and Nathan – well matched
Female / Male:
Magdalena and Gerardo
Melissa and Marcus
Triplets:
Vincent, Victoria and Violet (first 2 named after relatives)
Owen, Logan and Ryan (all boys)
Buggins Says:
Twin pairs I like/would use:
-Juliana and Isabelle
-Eva and Alana
-Grayson and Porter
-Jack and Noah
-Eva and Jack
-Juliana and Beckett
Kinda cool:
-Aidan and Nadia
-New quads who were: Alessandra, Isabella, Louis, and Nicholas. Thought they were well named.
Twin pairs I know of and dislike:
Ethan and Emma- just way too common, and I don’t like the matching initials
Alexis and Mercedes- ugh.
Robert and Geoffrey- not my style, but not a bad twin pair.
Harrison (Harry) and Lucas (Luke)
Camryn and Joshua- I don’t like one unisex with one clearly male
Charlotte Says:
I know of a few, most of them are pretty good name-wise:
Georgina (Gina) and Luke
Mariette and Gabrielle (Marie and Gabby)
Henry and Lillian (Lilly)
Melanie and Samuel (Mel and Sam)
Alexander and Callum
Jessica and Sarah
Douglas and Yvette (Doug and Yvie)
Savannah and Kimberley
Billy and Charlie
Isla and Findlay
But some are hideous:
Kane and Kiahn
Jake and Blake
Lane and Tayte – girls
Neve and Ellys – both girls
Paris and Serenity
Jorja and Tiana
Maya and Chaya
If I had twins, they’d probably be:
- Isadora Liliane and Phoebe Anabelle for girl/girl
- Kiefer Francis and Tobias Jack for boy/boy
- Hania (han-eye-a) Genevieve and Dexter Ciaran for boy/girl.
NTSA Says:
Twins I’ve known include:
Allison and Alyssa: No. Just no.
Dayquon and Jayquon: Get out!
Maxim and Michaela: Not too similar, kinda cute.
Cassandra and Cassandre: Sigh…
Meisha-Gaye and Anna-Kaye: The hyphen part was kinda interesting. They usually went by just Meisha and Anna.
Seth and Brianna: These two were pretty cool!
Brett and Zachary: A bit TOO different from each other…
Jayson (R.I.P.) and Jaysy: Kinda ugh, but at least they ran in different social circles, making for less confusion.
Antoine and Andre: Despite the same first and last letter, the different middle sounds made the two names distinct.
Shannon and Siobhan: My fiance’s cousins – common sense says this should be a bad coupling of names, but I do like it for some strange reason…
Abdulrahman and Abdullah: NNs Rahman and Abdul – thank goodness for that!
Kerima and Zenebe: NNs Kim and Zu-Zu – very different from their above brothers!
Since twins runs in my fiance’s family, we may have a pair! If we do, I’m looking at Gareth and Giselle for a boy and a girl… no idea about same-gendered pairs yet!
Katie Says:
Okay, so I’m really hoping this is just urban legend… but I do have three unrelated accounts of this twinset who should be teens by now:
Lemonjello and Orangejello
(pronounced le-MON-jel-Lo and or-ON-jel-Lo)
The story is that jello (lemon and orange) was all she could eat while she was pregnant. Seriously.
L Says:
The worst I’ve ever seen (Mexican identical preteens, recently), were Edna Larissa and Edna Melissa, daughters of Edna Marisa. It seems quite common here to name twins almost the same name, like Gabriel and Gabriela, or Marcela and Maricela. Also I met a middle-age man who shared the exact complete name of his older brother because their mom strictly followed the calendar of saints (Desiderio).
UrbanAngel Says:
Twins I’ve come across whose names I remember
Guglethu & Dudulethus (I’m South African & these are Afrinca names)
Angelique & Jacqueline
Renette & I forget te other name
Caleigh & Caitlin
Charne said shar-nay & I can’t remember the brother’s name
Chloe & Jade
If I had BB twins it’d be either
Asher or West (ranked 2nd & 3rd on my list)
or Blaine & Arden
If I had GG twins
Eden & Isla (ranked first & second on my list)
matching girls
Anastasia “Stasia” & Arielle ” Ari”
If I had BG twins
Dylan & Eden (ranked first & first onmy list)
I also think Isla & Blaine is a great sibset
cew1114 Says:
Some good pairs are . . .
Andrew and Aria- same letter, but they don’t sound the same
Gemma and Theo- both quirky
Clio and Jess- both unusual, but at the same leval
Spring and Lark- both have a different feel to them
Ivie and Faye- Also have a different feel
Ian and Cassidy- sound cute together
Juliet and Delaynie(Delaney)- sound sweet
Analie and Yara- both differant
Jackson and Kate- both unheard
Amelia and Walker- cute!!!!!
Lucas “Luc” and Tobin “Toby”- so differnent and yet so similar
Some bad ones are . . .
Casey and Cassey- waaaaay to close!
Andrew and Andrea- also to close
Aspen and Willow or Aspen and Forest- all tree related things
Faith and Hope- basically the same thing
May and June- eww.
Holly Says:
My twin cousins (Irish) are called Ella and Ines, which I think is a nice combination – they go together without being too similar and are such sweet names!
I personally like Eron (boy) and Esmee (girl)…
I read about a pair of twins who were called Fish and Chips … seriously!!!!! I can’t believe any parent would do that!
Holly Says:
I knew identical twins from india named Radhika and Ridhika.
WAY too similar if you ask me … everybody got so confused!
Alexandra Says:
I know two sets of twins:
Sarah and Sabrina
Christian and Julian
both name combinations are waaayyy too matchy imho. I like the names Brangelina picked and Scarlett Johansson’s twin brother is named Hunter, that’s a very interesting combination as well!
If I had to pick two names right now….It would be
Sawyer (boy) & Auden (girl)
It works for two boys and two girls as well….haha
Emmy Jo Says:
THE WORST: I went to elementary school with twins named Stephen (pronounced STEFF-in) and Stephan (pronounced steff-ON). Yep, it’s basically the exact same name with the accent on a different syllable.
MOST INTERESTING: I know someone with twin boys named Raiden and Thorin, after the Japanese god of lightening and the Norse god of thunder. I like the idea of giving twins names that are subtly connected in meaning like that.
jacjac Says:
here’s some twin sets I know, some I am related to.
Cynthia & Sylvia (my mom is Sylvia)
Patrick & Patricia (uncle, aunt)
Victoria & Vanessa (aunts)
Lindsey & Leah (cousins)
Lydia & Lauren
Madison & Riley (neice, nephew)
Megan & Sarah
Albert & Andrew
Jean Says:
The worst I’ve heard was at a school where I worked. I don’t know how the names were spelled, but they were pronounced Dwayne and D’won.
violetsmom Says:
Even though its matchy I think Jade & Jude is a really cool twin set.
I also really like Serena Willow & Keira Autumn. Both first names end in “a” and both have tranquil middle names.
Anonymous Says:
The worst twin names?
My cousin’s twins…
Atom and Zero.
I wish I were kidding.
disa_lan Says:
“Atom and Zero” Is it sad to say I kind of like them together?
twinkle Says:
I, too, love the names that Dotsmom chose for her twins – Matilda and Eloise are perfect together.
I also like to think that the names that we have chosen for our twins are lovely – Dorothea Cecily Pearl and Marigold Imelda Blythe (Dottie and Maggie).
Fraternal twins definitely run in my family – some are :
Adamina (Mina) and Clovis – my siblings
Harry and Cosima – Mina’s children
William and Fenella – my dad and his sister
Prudence (Pru) and Modesty (who goes by her mn, Helen) – my aunts – there was a virtue theme on their side of the family, so they are not just matching because they are twins.
Andrea Says:
Ah. I forgot Jasper (boy) and Juniper (girl). They’re preschool age twins belonging to a young couple from this town who relocated to California. I last saw them on the cover of a very crunchy breastfeeding/natural birth magazine that is based in the town where I live. Neo-hippies, suiting the name. Their baby sister is named Medora Apple. They’re very cute little Scandinavian-American blondes.
Andrea Says:
I believe Sherry and Sheryl were twins in my dad’s high school graduating class. Really similar twin names still seem to be the norm in this part of the woods. One of my second cousins lost a set of twins who were named Hailey and Bailey or Hailey and Kaylee. I forget which. But Hailey and Kaylee and Hailey and Bailey seem to be quite popular twin combos.
Andrea Says:
Anyone remember the Internet twins back in 2001? A bungled international private adoption. The twins ended up being named Kiara and Keyara, which I remember thinking was EXACTLY the same name. I suppose they were pronounced differently but you’d have to know that or you’d pronounce the names identically. Awful, awful combination.
Conjoined twins in the news also always interest me, especially the names.
Bangladeshi conjoined twins Krishna and Trishna (girls), separated in Australia last November.
Krista and Tatiana, Canadian conjoined twins who can’t be separated.
Anastasia and Tatiana (nicknamed Ana and Tati), Romanian conjoined twins who can’t be separated.
Erin and Jade (American conjoined twins, separated)
Kendra and Maliyah (American conjoined twins, separated)
Jayden and Joshua (American conjoined twins, separated)
Catherine and Eilish (Irish conjoined twins, separated, but Catherine “Katie” died later.)
Abygail and Madysen (American conjoined twins, separated)
Abbigail and Isabelle (American conjoined twins, separated)
Veena and Vatni (Indian conjoined twins, separated)
Leah and Tabea (German conjoined twins, separated but Tabea died.)
Carl and Clarence (Filipino conjoined twins, separated)
Mohamed and Ahmed (Egyptian conjoined twins, separated)
Lakshmi (Indian girl with parasytic twin, successfully operated on)
Emma and Taylor (American conjoined twins, about to be separated)
Rose and Grace (Maltese conjoined twins, Rose died)
Carmen and Lupita (can’t be separated)
Abigail and Brittany (American conjoined twins, can’t be separated)
Matteo and McHale (American conjoined twins, successfully separated)
Charity and Kathleen (American conjoined twins, successfully separated)
Tiesha and Iesha (American conjoined twins, successfully separated)
Luka and Joseph (Zambian conjoined twins, separated)
Maria de Jesus and Maria Teresa (Guatemalan conjoined twins, separated)
Milagros and Ruth (Peruvian conjoined twins, can’t be separated)
Ronnie and Donnie (world’s oldest living conjoined twins, can’t be separated)
Masha and Dasha (Russian conjoined twins, died in 2003 at age 53)
Yvonne and Yvette (American conjoined twins, died in 1992 at age 43)
Ruthie and Verena (American conjoined twins who couldn’t be separated, died at age 7 in 1991)
Ram and Laxman (Indian conjoined twins, separated)
Anjali and Geetanjali (Indian conjoined twins, separated)
Rekha and Surekha (Indian conjoined twins, separated)
Ladan and Laleh (Iranian conjoined twins, died while being separated as adults)
Kim W Says:
I know a set of twins named Eliza and Naomi. Really perfect, I think!
laura Says:
I am a pediatrician and took care of a set of twins named ZyiLarry and ZaLarry (guess what Dad’s name was?). They went by “Zyi” and “Za.”
Mary M Says:
The best…and possibly worst twin names I’ve ever heard: Cosmo and Lulu.
Madi Says:
The twins I’ve met in my life are:
Leigh Anne and Lauren (20s) Too confusable for me.
Katie and Ashlee (teens)
Taylor (girl) and Troy (teens)
Reagan (girl) and Logan (boy) 5 yrs. (would love this set for two girls)
Shay (girl) and Ryan (girl) 3 yrs. I don’t think they work for two girls :/
Alex (boy) and Tyler (boy) (2 yrs) I think these work nice for two nice softish boy names.
Lily, Sarah, and Jessica (3 yrs.) They’re triplets. Sarah and Jessica are identical, Lily is not, and I think that, combined with the name differences, will make her feel too different later in life.
…I think that’s it.
Alex Says:
lets see, I grew up with twins named Douglas and Dennis, Diana and Shannon, Ashley and Laura, and Hannah and Sarah. None of them horrible imo but not all that great either.
til Says:
I don’t know a whole lot of twins outside my family. When I was a teenager, I knew Caroline and Eloise, and Alexis and Victoria, all girls, and the very classic John and Nicholas.
In my family (mostly on my husband’s side) there’s a few twin sets:
Alaska Rose and Avalon Ingrid – my 19-year-old daughters. My husband wanted their names to start with the same letter, and he suggested Alaska and Arizona, but I said one state was enough.
Gabriel and Mathéo – my brother-in-laws. (48-years old if you want to know…
)
Primrose and Patience – aunts of my father-in-law.
and Rosie Jane and Clara Anne – my daughter Lyla’s two-year-old twin girls.
marie Says:
brian and ryan, hands down.
Keiley Says:
I know twins called Theodora and Dorothea.
Both lovely names but they are basically the same name but backwards and forwards!
It’s like naming kids Heaven and Nevaeh. I’m sure there are twins with this name somewhere :/
sonya Says:
I’m a twin and i’m sonya and my sister is sara: Sara and Sonya
Also twins run in the family and here are my aunts and uncles:
ray and roy
glenda and brenda
jace Says:
I know twins named Brad and Chad. Bad, really.
Jes Says:
I went to school with 3 sets of twins:
Brandon & Nicholas
Patrick & Joseph
Laura & Shawn (both girls! Laura was quiet and bookwormish, Shawn was bold and artistic, I guess their names fit them!)
We are all in our mid-twenties now.
Jen Says:
I don’t think there’s anything wrong with matching first initials. It’s not a cutting edge decision, but if everyone were cutting edge the cutting edge would have to be elsewhere.
A coworker’s granddaughters are Brooklyn and Braylee (may have misspelled those). They’ve grown on me over the years.
I went to school with Jennifer and Jeremy, dated now, but in 1978 were a nice, if predictable, match.
My cousin married a triplet from Greece– Mary, Dori and
The worst ones I’ve seen was a boy and a girl, and both names were pretty unisex and similar sounding and we had a monster of a time sorting out their insurance claims. It might have been Jordan and Jaden and Jaden was the girl.
I also grew up with a Jamie and Amy. I think rhyming names are the worst of sins.
If I had twins, I’d probably pick names from the family tree from three or four generations ago– grandma and great-aunt Ruby kinds of names. I like vintage names anyway and love the symmetry.
So if I had twin girls: Stella Jean and Elizabeth May
If I had twin boys, I’d be posting for desperate help coming up with something out of Alonzo, Sanders, Wilson, Alvin and Marvin, with a required middle name of Criffin. Boys are kind of difficult in my family. Actually, Alvin and Alonzo aren’t bad together, but I’m not sure I’d inflict them on hapless infants.
mina_gaspar Says:
I went to school with a twins Jethro and Spike!! And another were Janina Raphaela, and Raphaela Janina. Parents were only expecting 1
I also knew non identical twins, Charlotte and Anthony, whose nicknames were Lotte and Totte. I think that’s a cute idea.
British American Says:
Keiley – I actually kinda like Theodora and Dorothea as matchy twin names.
I guess the confusion might be the nicknames – like if Theodora is Dora and Dorothea is Thea, then it’s like they swapped initials for the nicknames.
CanaLyn Says:
I know a set of twins called Madelon (Maddie) and Georgia, and a set of twins named Emily and Megan.
My sisters (not twins, but still) are Maggi and Mali – and they get mixed up all the time – it’s not necessarily a good idea to give matchy names to siblings in general.
If I had twins, I think I’d name them:
Aurélienne Rebecca and Cadeau Amelie (Riley and Cat).
Aurélienne is actually a French boy’s name made into a girl’s name, and Cadeau means present.
I’d be in trouble if I had boys though.
CanaLyn Says:
PS @Katie:
I worked in a child support / divorce court over the past summer, and I saw the file of a mother who did, in fact, name her twins Lemonjello and Orangejello. We only saw the paperwork, but it’s gotta be true. I’m sad that she couldn’t be a LITTLE more creative though.
Pamela Redmond Satran Says:
I still think the Lemonjello and Orangejello story is an urban legend! I will not be convinced until I see that birth certificate.
Joy Says:
In high school, in the 80s, we had twins Tomi and Traci, both girls.
When I was 13, my BFF’s mom had twins, and the family had a wager of who would get to name them if they were boys, girls or boy/girl, or if they had a surprise triplet. With boys, my friend won the naming rights, so they were Dylan Trent and Daryn Travis.
My SIL has a twin brother; they’re Eileen and Patrick.
Her younger siblings are also twins: Brian and Therese.
(Yes, their surname is Irish.)
I know a sibset of Travis, Trent and Troy.
My mother and her sisters are Carol, Chloe, Cleta and Cathy.
To me, the true test of sibling or twin names is that they sound different enough when your parents are hollering at you from across the house or down the street, so that you can tell WHO they’re calling. Applies to pets in the same house too!
JS Says:
My husband is a twin. His name is Damion and his sister is Wendy. I always thought that was a very nice combo.
jessa Says:
I went to school with an Erin and Kristopher, Tal and Chase, and Brianna and Cierra. I think Tal and Chase ‘go’ the best, being of similar style but without matching. My grandpa and my great aunt are twins, Leonard Lee and Wanda Lea. The worst names for multiples that I’ve heard are triplets that I went to school with who were Casey, Kira, and Alexandra. On their own, not so bad, but they don’t ‘go’ at all.
Charlotte Vera Says:
If my husband and I ever have a twin boy and girl we’d go with Cedric and Celeste since we like both of those names.
Elizabeth Says:
I had a great-great-grandma named Maud and she had a twin brother named Claud.
disa_lan Says:
I thought of some more.
My daughter has gone to school with twins Raianna and Jazmin.
I’ve gone to school with Timothy and Thomas, Kristina and Victoria, and friends with Andrew and Hayden (I think his name was really Daniel).
Martha Says:
My twin sister and I are Irene Claire and Martha Jane – first names after our grandmothers. I think twins should be given their very own distinct names — no more alike than “regular” siblings would be given. My sister and I once dated twins named Ronnie and Donnie.
RayRay86 Says:
My twin brothers are Stephan & Jesse. The names are nice because they’re not too similar, not too common, but also not too strange.
I also know a Thomas & Natosha. (Don’t really like it.)
Went to school with Cedric & Roderick. (Nice rhythm!)
Kids at work are Reed & Miles. (Adorable!)
Mintie Says:
My grandfather and his twin were called Arthur and Hazel which I always thought was nice.
Christina Fonseca Says:
Dominic and Daniel, identical 6 year olds
TRIPLETS born in 2010:
Andrew, Alexander, Alexia
Zoey and brothers Mason and Lucas
Luke and sisters Taylor and Hannah
boy Temarje and sisters Semaj and Minaj
Amy Says:
My twins are names Madison and Morgan. They are identical girls and are 17 months old. Their older brother is Aiden, and we are expecting another boy. We’re exploring the name Austin for this boy?
Naomi Says:
I have twin boys, who are now 24 years old….their names are…Jamie and Todd. I liked names that couldn’t be shortened. I have another son named Tanner.
Katy Says:
Wow, there are some interesting names on here! I had a Jade and Jody in one of the classes i was student teaching in – don’t like that combo. I prefer twin names with different initials because I think they should feel like separate people – and they always are referred to as ‘the twins’ so having different names would help.
If I were having twins (don’t know yet, too early!) I would go with -
boy-boy
James and Samuel
James and Aidan
boy-girl
James and Lucy
James and Madeleine
girl-girl
Lucy and Madeleine
katie Says:
Juno and Phoebe
Dante and Neruda Poe
Melita and Calypso
Connected but not same sounding
jessicawinky1 Says:
I dont like matchy-matchy names but I do like longer names with 3 or 4 syllables. I feel it gives them more options for nn’s but they still have a solid name for when they are adults. I would pick:
Alexandra & Gabriella
Jameson & Finnegan
Jameson & Alexandra
Kate Says:
i have twins named Benjamin and Jennifer. they are different names that don’t sound the same, but they still sound like twins when I call them Ben and Jen.
Ky Says:
I have 7 year old twin cousins named Francesco and Sophie. Francesco was a family name and luckily he goes by his middle name Drew.
My favorite twin names are:
Olivia and Abigail
Evan and Luke
Gavin and Bentley
Theodore (Theo) and Holden
Sarah Says:
Twins I’ve met or know
Girls:
Alexandria (Alex) and Veronica
AnneMarie (Anna) and Katherine (Kat)
Shannon and Megan
Haley and Erin (triplet brother Sean)
Amanda and Jessica
Morgan and Jordan
Abigail (Abby) and Addison (Addie) yuck! I like both names seperately, but why do parents feel the need to rhyme?
Boys:
Christopher (Chris) and Joseph (Joe)
Joel and Dylan
kenzaly Says:
there is 13 sets in my grade
dlyan and blake
bonnie and clyde
trevor and trey
brandon and zachary
darryl and darla
alice and ashley
hayden and trenton
sadie and cortney
Angel Says:
I went to school with a Kayla and Kelsey. I was talking to their cousin yesterday, and she said that one had two children, and the other had three – all K names. That’s a bad twin set.
Also can’t stand Heaven and Nevaeh.
I know this is matchy, but I like Penelope and Philip…different sounds for the same first letter.
Stefani Says:
I know twins named Demetrius and Dartanon but everybody that knows them just calls them De and Dar.
m0sher_chick Says:
My sister and I are having a laugh at some of these.. twins we know of are:
Madeleine and Lydia (Our sisters, Maddy and Liddy)
Doron and Asher
Mandy and Michelle
Tim and Greg
Nick and Lance
Amber and Paige
Jeremy and Victoria (Vicky)
Spencer and Mitchell
Bradley, Lauren and Nick (Triplets)
Cathy and Pete (Catherine and Peter)
Raewyn and Darcy
Ashley and Jordan
Aaron and Byron
There were heaps more but cant remember.
CassieCake Says:
My brothers are twins: Tanze and Tallon.
I went to middle school with Ashley and Amber.
I baby sat for a Reese and Abigail.
I ran into a Jackson and Jacob at the zoo.
I knew a Kyle and Korey.
Julie Says:
I have twin grandsons, Chase and Dylan. While my daughter was pg with the twins, one baby was very active, the other more laid back and not as active. So she named one child, Chase, because she figured he had “chased” the other one around for 9 months. The name fits him. He loves to play catch me if you can. The other twin, Dylan, is a more easy going, relaxed little guy.
Both names fit each child very well.
Jacey Says:
I’M 42. When I was in grade school, I knew twins Heidi & Bettina. I never liked the name Heidi much but i think that was a nice set, I think their parents were German… I also knew Allison & Allegra. Laurie & Richard. Currently, I know toddlers/babies named
Gianni & Anthony,
Jude & Cole,
Tamlyn & Corbin,
Skylar & Cheyenne
The most horrible? Cousins I have named Donnie & Ronnie. UUghhh.
The Absolute worst, most horrible set of MULTIPLES I know were twins named Summer & Autumn, followed by separate a single sister named Winter. They also had an older brother named Todd.
I work in public assistance (i.e. welfare!) and have a friend/coworker who worked in a large city one state over, who swears these names are true…I believe it.
SarSar Says:
I’m a twin, My name is Sarah and my sisters name is Emmalea (Emma)
Amber Hopin’fortwins Says:
I know lots of twins, I work in a middle school. I have two sets in my family – Kenneth (Kenny) and Kevin – a bit matchy, and Amy and Brian – Not bad, but a little Baby A, Baby B.
At school I hear all kinds of bad twin parings:
Amie and Jamie
Carrie and Sherrie
Jordan and Jerrod
Alex and Alexis – really!
Jennifer and Jessica (Jenny and Jessie)
Cody and Cole
Camden (Cam) and Cole
Kammie and Kurt
And not so bad:
Amber and Jonathan
Nicholas and BreeAnna (Nic and Bree)
Hanna and Brook
And triplets – Emily, Mikayla and Abigail (Emmie, Mickey, Abby)
But some of the best are actually teacher’s children:
Victor Hawk and Scarlett Raine
Suraya and Kiran (Eastern Desent)
My husband and I have only been able to settle on girls names, but if we happen to have twin girls:
Nola Elizabeth (family names) and Amelia Skye (favorite places) – and we will call them Beth and Mia. We are playing around with the form of Elizabeth.
I am an identical twin, and the second-born.
We are Carolyn & Kimberly, both middle initial J.
My dad wanted Harriett & Henrietta, after his favorite aunts… we would have been Harri & Henri.
Jack & Jason
Noah & Ross (living)
I know twins named:
(GG) Sherry & Shane (ehh)
(BG) Dexter & Devon
(GG) Nancy & Laura
(BB) Tim & Travis
(BB) Jesse & Travis
(GG) Holly & Heidi
(BB) Lincoln & Loring (like)
I would tell parents to encourage individuality… even in identicals. We still had C&K, pink & blue, the exact same gifts, matching clothing… and “which one are you?”
And, REALLY… “BONNIE & CLYDE”? Some bright ideas should be corrected before they are made official mistakes…
Vanessa Says:
Fun topic…!
Lizbeth & Lizeth (no joke)
Phillip & Tyler
Jacob & Jessica
Elizabeth & Melissa
Karl & Kevin
Robert & Andrew
Gabrielle & Samantha
I love “V” and “L” sounds.
heavenryle Says:
I have identical twin girls. There names are Nobaly-Dai Annette and Noahly Jade.
With twins you have to remember just because they come as a pair doesn’t mean that they are the same. My girls are as different as different can be. Nobaly-Dai is strong willed, tough, bold, she wants to know every thing. Always has some thing to say and She talks loudly its more like yelling. When she is in the room she want’s you to know it. Unlike her twin sister Noahly, She is quite, she is vary loving, her feelings get hurt easy and she talks softly almost like a whisper. She doesn’t go out of her way to let you know she’s there. My point is There name’s are almost the same. but they are any thing but the same. When you get down to it it does not matter what you name your babies. Pick names that you love and go with it.(God know’s you will be saying it for the rest of your life.) I did. I love names that are different. No one is the same.
I have 2 other children. There names are different as well. Heaven-Ryle Cressa and Charles-Avery Solin.
Haley Says:
The most unfortunate twinset I’ve ever heard is Glenda and Brenda. My mom went to school with them in the sixties/seventies.
Also fairly unfortunate are Sydney and Brydney (both girls). They’re seven years old right now.
Other twins I know aren’t that bad.
My personal picks for twins’ names are:
Boys:
Max and Sam (Maxwell and Samuel)
Max and Rex (but a bit too matchy matchy)
Jonathon and Julian
Girls:
Tabitha and Evelyn
Her first set were boys Nathan Edgar and Connor Edward. This new set of girl twins are Darcy Paige and Emily Mae.
Rochelle Says:
I went to school with a Megan and a Hannah, which flowed nicely, I think. I also knew a Maya and Farah, but those seemed a bit close. I think Zoe and Sarah, Lily and Kendel, or Bailey and Olivia were nice matches.
Ruby Says:
I went to school with identical twins girls named Candace and Colette. It wouldn’t have been so bad, except they go by their nicknames:
Candy and Cookie.
Sara Says:
My twins are Vincent James and Verity Irene.
If it was two boys it would have been Vincent and Benjamin.
If it was two girls it would have been Verity and Delia
I have twin brothers named Andrew and Paul.
I went to school with a Melinda and Amber, Rory and V.J., Nathanial and Sarah, and a Christopher and Cassie.
Emily Says:
I am having twin boys and we still do not have names!
I often connect names with people and their personalities.
For example, there are twin girls in our dance school named
Amanda & Laura. They are fraternal twins and everyone still gets their names confused! They have such vibrant personalities and they are always giggling! They are happy, sweet, and fun girls. My daughter is always happy when she is around them. I would name twin girls after them just because they truly are sweet, happy little girls!
If I was having twin girls, I truly would consider their names because they represent their names so well!!!
Kaitlin Says:
The only twins I know are named:
Kristine & Kendall (18)
Ashley & Alisha (10)
Misty Says:
I’m not for matchy matcy names AT ALL when it comes to twins. They are two separate people that happen to share the same birthday! So my twin girls are Jocelyn and Ivy.
Josie Says:
My mother in law and her sister are Cathleen and Colleen. I like it cause one helps me to remember how to spell the other. It helps that they are not identical twins though.
I doubt I’ll ever have twins but I if I had two girls I would name them Sabrina (Bree) and Savannah (Anna).
No idea for boys names.
Rosie Says:
Worst twin names I’ve known are Kylie and Tiffany (can you tell they were born in the 80s?) and but the best was Oliver and Abigail which I think works really well. Traditional and complimentary, although inevitably they became “Ollie” and “Abbie” – again I guess they sound nice together but not names I would personally choose.
I like traditional but slightly unusual names – there’s some great names suggested but I think for twin boys I’d have Toby and Noah… girls maybe something like Phoebe and Elspeth (I knew a girl at college called Elspie – short for Elspeth – and thought it was the cutest name!)
ruby Says:
melody and harmony (girls)
charlye and chrystina (girls)
I go to school with twin boys Rivelino and Riviera – 18 years old. Poor kids. And I know of twin boys named {LIN-ik-uh} and {LEN-ek-uh} .. not sure of the spellings, possibly Linica and Leneca?
Lucy Says:
I know of:
Gabriella ‘Gabby’ and Caprice – I met Gabby first and pondered on what her sisters name would be. I thought of Victoria, Amelia and perhaps Daniella. So it really caught me out when I discovered it was actually Caprice. Unexpected, but interesting choice.
Tiana and Taleah – This set to me is…meh. Too samey for my tastes.
Charlotte and Catharina ‘Kat’ – I really like this set, although Kat recently told me she thought her name was an old-ladies name and hated it. The names are similar, but not overly.
Polly and Frederic ‘Freddie’ – I like this set as well. It’s got a vintage feel to it.
I’ve always admired Tegan and Sara’s names as well.
JacobandAmy Says:
Here’s my experience with some twins and their names—
My husband grew up with twins as best friends named:
Kevin and Ian. It works great for them and its easy to talk about them in a sentence. I think their names go great together.
My husband knows another set of twins named:
Daniel (Danny) and David. I much prefer twin names that go well together without using the same first letter.
I went to college with a set of twins named:
Laura and Jaclyn… It was hard to say both of their names together so everyone just used their last name to refer to them both.
JacobandAmy Says:
jonelle–
Say them out loud with “and” in the middle… and think of the nicknames that might be used.
In my opinion, Lucy and Marie sounds cute and is easy to say. Rebekah and Evelyn is a bit long together but I like those names, too… but what if everyone calls them Becka and Eve? hmm…
My experience is that people will talk about them collectively all the time and there’s nothing wrong with that, but it’s nice if the names have a nice flow (2 syllables and 1 syllable) or (2 syllables and 2 syllables)
Nichol Says:
I know a few sets:
Benjamin & Brenton
Jessica & Jennifer
Bonnie & Brent
I know of more but only know one of the twins personally so I’ll update when I find out. I am expecting boy/girl twins in the spring and having a hard time finding names that really stick out. I much prefer to have same-letter first names.
Tae Says:
My father’s name is Dean Alden and his twin is Damon Andrew. I’ve always thought that they go very well together. A unifying combo that still gives them their “own” name, in my opinion.
I like when there’s some sort of unifying quality (starting with the same letter, having a similar meaning, etc.) but, don’t personally like it when the names rhyme. It’s too “cutesy” and doesn’t give a sense of independence or individuality…especially if they are identical twins.
They say I’m up for twins next and if that’s the case, some of my sets are…
Boys:
Rush Alden and Haydn Andrew
Girls:
Zaedah Layne and Zephyr Grace
Ezrah Vann and Lyrah Jude
Lennox Avariee and Lucia Alvah
(B) Rush Alden and (G) Ezrah Vann
(B) Lucian Jaymes and (G) Lyrah Jude
(B) Atticus Grant and (G) Astrid Grace
I have two sets of twins in my school now.
Jacob and Emily (Jake and Em)
Adam and Lauren
I like them both a lot, though Jake is one of four Jakes in our grade and Emily is one of three. Adam and Lauren is pretty cool too, but the “en” ending kind of bothers me.
I am righting a short story about sextuplets (crazy, I know) who are made up of three sets of identical twins. The pairings are:
Elizabeth Catherine and Catherine Elizabeth
Samuel Benjamin and Benjamin Samuel
Jonathan William and William Jonathan
Twins names that I am obsessed with:
On the same side of the family, check out this sibset of 7:
I heard of a mom giving birth to twins and naming them Orangejello and Lemonjello. They didn’t sound like Orange Jello though it sounded like Orangelo with the french g in the middle. Spelled though like Lemon Jello! Very different!
Sarah Says:
I have an identical twin. Just want to pipe in and say that I am so thankful our parents did not give us matchy names. There’s enough cuteness factor (and confusion) of being identical without the matchiness! Also, my mother very rarely dressed us alike and although we still share clothes in our 30′s, we don’t dress in the same outfit on the same day. I just think that, unless it’s a party or gag situation, it’s rude to friends/family and unfair to the kids to dress them identically. Trust me, we know when adults and loved ones are avoiding interacting with us because they are unsure about our identity and they don’t even have the courtesy of a different colored shirt to ease the situation! Our names: Sarah and Elizabeth.
Lauren Says:
Oh, wait till you hear this!
My husbands Dad and his twin sister….
Custard Says:
I know one set of twins from school – they were Sally and Gemma and one set from college, they were Emma and Natasha. Both of those I think go well together.
I really dislike unimaginative naming of twins…
“Oh we liked Kaylie for a girl, but we had two girls so we decided on Kylie for the other because we couldn’t think of any other girls name in the whole of existence we liked as much”
Yeah right!! Poor Kaylee and Kylie. A lifetime of being in the shadow of your sister!
I also dislike people who name twins and make it sound like they’re from different generations. ie Arthur and Jayden. Arthur & George yes. Jayden and Joshua yes. Arthur and Jayden?? Just doesn’t go together.
And don’t even get me started on rhyming names and stupid spellings! Kaylee, Baylie, Kaylegh, Beileigh, Kayley, Bailey, Cayleigh, Beylay, Kailee, Bayleigh, Kae-Lee, Bailee, Keighleigh, Bhaeleagh etc etc
I just made all of those up but I guarantee those spelling are out there!!
Kalee Says:
i love how my older sibling, boy girl twins, names sound together….. Aaron and Kaleena both their middle names start with the same initial which unifies and makes them ‘twin-like’
I also love my hubbys nieces names, they’re girl girl twins named Rose and Leah…. I like that they’re the same length and sound cute together
Alison Says:
I knew boy twins when i was little… they were Vincent & Andrew. Their names suited them alot but they were very ‘different’ names from each other. like you stated, sounded years apart
Nicole Says:
I am expecting identical twin girls and am having A HORRIFIC TIME choosing names. Our 2 Y/O daughter is Claire Elise.
We “think” we’ve decided on one of the girls Charlotte Leann (middle names honor family members so we are set on those). Claire became a little more popular than we would have liked but it’s still not your “everyday” name (at least around here). However, Charlotte is moving through the ranks so now I’m undecided.
And since popularity is a concern of mine you’ll understand why I am more than struggling with my husband’s selection for “Baby B” …. Sophia (mn is Louise). Sophia is beautiful but oh man, SOPHIA?! Sophia is on the top 10 baby name list in practically every baby list around the globe. He’s utterly in love with it. He absolutely adores “his little Sophia”. I don’t know what to do. It’s down to the wire, the babies are expected anytime in the next 3 weeks. I don’t want to be those people who are deciding in the hospital.
I love the name Anna, as well as Lydia but our friends have an infant named Lydia.
HELP ME!
I just read a post in one of the other threads that ended with “Truly cool is choosing the name that you feel suits your family and child best regardless of what others think – isn’t confidence in what you believe regardless of others the cool for all time?” ……….. so perhaps it doesn’t matter at all what people think of Charlotte or Sophia. The sound of the three of these little girls together is poetry to us: Claire, Charlotte & Sophia. When I say it aloud, it’s so pretty. Maybe that’s all that matters, how it feels and sounds to us.
Dorothy M Says:
I have known many twins, and most of the parents matched their names, which is nice, although I did not do that when mine were born. I have cousins, friends, children, and grandchildren twins.
Jean and Joan————born in the 40′s (my cousins)
David and Daniel——— ” ” ” 50′s (my cousins)
Keith and Kevin———————-50′s (my friends)
Marcus and Marvin——————–50′s (my friends)
Roberta and Frances——————40′s (my friends)
Damon and Devony———————80′s (child’s friends)
Gregory and Emily——————–90′s (my children)
Hana and Harli———————–00′s (my grandchildren)
The worst (in my opinion)…a coworker’s identical twin boys,
Damian and Angelicus, also called Pie and Moe.
Katie Says:
My twin sister and I are Kathleen Mary and Theresa Annette (Katie & Reese, respectively).
I also have twin cousins named Robert and Frank (Bobby & Frankie).
Other twins I’ve known:
John & Patrick (John & Pat)
Rikisha & Markisha (too matchy and difficult for nicknames)
Caitlin & Katherine (Cait & Katy-did I mention these 2 are identical?)
Adam & Rebecca
Olive Says:
Okay, so my daughters are twins. I have Georgia and Meredith. I love those names, and they go nicely together. I think when naming siblings matchy-matchy names they can lose their own personal identity. I also think complete contrast isn’t good, and hard to live up to. When you name your kids names that all work together to compliment one another in a more suddle way, things work a lot better. I do like Adam and Rebecca.
SarahVictoria Says:
I know twins names Olivia and Lily (Liv and Lil). I do like names that match as well as non matching as long as they seem from the same genre. When I was in High school (early 90′s) I liked Caroline and Christian as twin names. To Jennifer wrote April 2011, I think Sophia and Charlotte are great. You say you are concerned about popular names. Keep in mind todays names are nowhere near as common as they were 20-30 or 100 years ago. For example, there were 16K girls named Sophia in the USA for 2009 and 64K girls named Jennifer in 1973. I’m with your husband. I love the name Sophia. My cousin used it a couple of years before my daughter was born so I named my daughter Audrey.
Alicia Says:
I know two twin girls whose names are Mariah & Cassidy which I think go perfectly! They are identical, and you can only tell them apart from their hair colour which I feel bad about not knowing.
My god father and his brother are twins named Peter and Matthew; not bad but very popular.
I also know:
Michelle and Nicole
Zachary and Austin
Kayla and Brandon
These are all typical names to me, but if I were to have twins(which I want really badly!)their names would be:
BG- Zachary John & Amelia Louise (Zach and Lia)
Elise & Caleb
GG- Addison Rose & Emily Kendall (Addie and Em)
I also really like the names Seraphina (Sera), Peyton, and Harper
BB- Jack Martin & Noah Campbell
Michelle Says:
Judging by peoples faces I know the names of my identical twin daughters aren’t well-liked but I’m really happy with them and I think it suits them.
Kirby and Romy. Our surname is Allan, Kirby’s middle name is Layla and Romy’s middle name is Angelina. I think when it’s all thrown together they are beautiful individual names but they still match to a degree with them both ending in ‘Y’.
The only other twins I know are my mum’s aunts – Shirley and Chrissy, my mum’s cousins – Christine and Tina (I wish I was joking) and a boy and a girl from when I was at school called Jack and Sorcha. x
Kristie111 Says:
I am adopting twin boys whose names given are Moises and Joseph. Although the drug addict parents called him Moses so they are really Mo and Jo. Of course I wanted to alter their names so I am changing Joseph to Jonah and Moises to Mogue a Gaelic form of his original name.
The worst twin names were girls I taught Felicia and Phelicia. Pronounced exactly the same way.
Also Kermit and Elmo ( not a joke)
Tanya Says:
I have 2 sets of twin cousins in the one family they are…
Charlene and Louise ( Identical girls )
Danielle and Cameron ( Fraternal girl/boy )
Aimee Says:
I just found out I’m having boy/girl twins, and I’m ecstatic about the names my husband and I have picked.
Finley Reed & Amelia Auden (Finn & Lia)
We also have a 3 year old daughter named Beckett. We picked these names because they are trendy, yet a little bit old-fashioned. My husband is also from Britain and the names I hear about are slowly becoming favourites of mine.
Kimmy Says:
If I had twins, they would be:
Summer Snow and Winter Rose
Nathan and Nathaniel (really)
John and Kairyn.
Laura Says:
I only know 2 sets of twins, there names are :
April and May – seriously !
Judy and Trudy – ewww, I mean okay on their own but as a set..
If I was to have twins I would name them:
Carrie Beth
Daria Jane
Owly Says:
My uncles are fraternal twins James and John, which I think sound great together.
I have really close friends that are fraternal twins named Channell and Shantell. They have very different personalities but I still sometimes call them the wrong names when I’m talking fast. And I’m not a fan of the spellings.
My names for twin girls would be Jasper and Hazel. For boys, Conor and Cade.
shelby1091 Says:
I only know 1 set of twins:
Thurman and Thurston.
If I had twins, they would be:
Noah Landon and Josiah Gabriel
Mackenzie Hope and Aubri Jayda
Noah Landon and Mackenzie Hope.
LaurynMichelle Says:
Two of my best friends (twins, obviously) are Holly and Megan. Nice complimenting and nice flow i think…
PaxisBea Says:
The twins I knew growing up were called
Jett and Glen
Scott and Travis
Lilly and Amelie
Scarlett and Ruby
Ben and Joe (my older brothers)
Talia and Zeta (my cousins)
And I think the worst was
Theo and Leo (They hated their matching names)
I have twins on the way and I am planning on naming them either
Maisy and Jeydon
Pippa and Lydia
Theo and Callum
paigebrennanx Says:
Shannon & Stacey
Joseph & Thomas
Aisha & Christy
Emilia & Francesca
Maria & Theresa
oh and didn’t Mariah Carey call her twins Morrocan & Munroe? Twin names I like are;
Sophie & Mollie
Ariana & Angelina
Rosie & Ruby
Frederick & Alfred (Freddie & Alfie)
Lucas & Theo
NameLovingWriter Says:
I’ve known a lot of twins I think, and a set of triplets
Sophia and Shea, Jack and Lee, Ryan and Molly, Samantha Derek and Justin, Abby (Abigail) and Emma, Rochelle and Rauiri, MJ (Mikel) and Ella, Kenya and Kayla (not technical twins but they look nearly identical and are like 9m-1y apart), Katya and Karina, Mikaela and Alasia, Lucia and Lillian, Daniel and Paul, Samantha and Nicholas (I think), Greta and Jimmy, and that’s all I can think of off the top of my head.
LilyLunaPotter Says:
I know a Katty and a Kathy. I wish I were kidding.
KateM91 Says:
Some twins I know:
Kacey & Kelsey
Karen & Kraig (We call him Jay or KJ)
Makinna & Makayla (Kinna & Kayla)
Twins run in my family. So do K names. It creates too match-y names!
My top picks:
Savanah Michael & Kobie Ann
Brody Michael & Jason Benjamin
Savanah Michael & Jason Benjamin
AMY_DIAZ Says:
My twin girls are named Carlee and Cali.
caroline11278 Says:
I haven’t met many twin sets, and most were from my preschool years, and I don’t remember their names. But I do remember these:
Isabella and Sophia- my four-year-old sisters friends. Nice names, but way too popular for my taste.
Faith and Cassidy- they were in my third grade class ( we are thirteen now).
Taryn and Tyler John(TJ)- they are eleven now, I think.
Llama_Lord Says:
In junior high there was a pair of twins named Christopher James and James Christopher. Worst name set I’ve ever heard. They’re already identical twins, they already share everything – do they need to share names too?
Other than that, I don’t know many twins. At the top of my head I remember from high school a girl set – Kelsea and Kyleigh, a boy set – Micah and Caleb, and a boy/girl set – Anita (Annie) and Benjamin (Ben).
My mom went to school with a boy/girl set named Jack and Jill
I love twins! I want a twin set or two or ten, just to name them!
I love-
Benjamin and Jasper- solid, strong and handsome names without over pumping the testosterone
Evangeline and Tilly- they both seem re-invented and whimsy-sweet!
Aurora and Aurielle- similar sounds, different endings, both princesses, but they click
Ireland Elizabeth and Fallon Olivia- I love the fn mn twin set here. These girls are strong, femme, but lovable!
So there you go! Great idea to make it a mass-blog!
