CARDIGAN

In Egyptian mythology, Amon is a major god associated with creation and the air. He was later fused with the Sun god, Ra, and became Amun-Ra.
 
In the US, Amon is occasionally used as a variation of Ammon, primarily within the Amish and Mormon communities.

Clunky and distinctive in appearance but charming and gentle in sound, Hughie might appeal to fans of Rudy, Louie, and Augie. Ultimately derived from the Germanic Hugo, it has cool and thoughtful meaning of "mind, intellect". 
 
Hughie appeared in the US Top 1000 in the early 20th-century, albeit near the latter end of the charts — and even at its peak, it was never given to more than 50 babies in a single year. A recent count saw it given to just seven boys, but it's a totally different story in England and Wales where it has ranked in the Top 350.
 
Huey is an alternative spelling which has proved more popular in the US, given to 42 boys (but nearly 500 at its 1930s peak), perhaps owing to singer and actor Huey Lewis and activist Huey P. Newton.
