My Writing Name list- boys

One thing that really makes a character for me besides that character's traits and actions in my opinion is the name they use/have. I've meet other writers who disagree but I still think it is important. Over the years I've searched through far to many name feeds and websites to count. Thus far this is what I have come up with for boys only categorized by what I like.

Raphel is a masculine name that serves as a variation of the more common Raphael, which has Hebrew origins meaning 'God has healed.' Raphael appears in religious traditions as one of the archangels. The Raphel spelling maintains the name's spiritual heritage while offering a slightly more streamlined form without the additional 'a.' This variation is considerably less common than the traditional spelling, giving it a distinctive quality. The name carries connotations of healing, protection, and divine assistance from its biblical roots. Though rare in most English-speaking countries, Raphel might be chosen by parents who appreciate the rich history and meaning of Raphael but desire a more unique presentation of the name, or by those with cultural connections to regions where this variant may be more frequently used.

Terance is a masculine name that serves as a variant spelling of Terrence or Terence. Derived from the Roman family name Terentius, which possibly meant 'tender' or referred to someone from Tarentum (modern Taranto in Italy). This alternative spelling maintains the name's classical roots while offering a slightly modernized presentation. Terance has a refined, somewhat scholarly quality consistent with its ancient Roman connections. While the traditional spelling Terrence saw modest popularity in the mid-20th century, particularly the 1960s-70s, the Terance variant has remained much less common. This relative rarity makes it an option for parents seeking a recognizable name with classical roots but a slightly distinctive presentation that sets it apart from more common variations.
