Vitani

The name of one of the antagonists in the 1998 Lion King sequel Simba's Pride. The character was originally named Shetani, which means "devil" in Swahili, but this name was later combined with Swahili vita "war" to create the portmanteau name Vitani.

If you love the sound but were hoping for a more positive meaning, the name could also be seen as an elaboration on Latin Vita, meaning "life".

Pronounced vee-TAH-nee.

As of October 2026, Vitani ranked #17120 in US births in 2025 SSA, peaked at #15123 in 2021.
