Vinie

Vinie is a delicate feminine name that likely originated as a diminutive form of names containing 'vin' elements, such as Lavinia, Vincenza, or even Virginia. This charming shortened form carries a sweet, vintage quality reminiscent of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Historically, Vinie was sometimes used as a standalone name rather than just a nickname, particularly in rural communities. The name has a melodic simplicity that feels both nostalgic and refreshing. While never widely popular, Vinie has maintained occasional usage throughout the years. It provides a distinctive alternative for parents seeking a name with antique appeal and a gentle, feminine sound.

Pronounced VIN-ee.

As of October 2026, Vinie ranked #6082 for girls in US births in 1950 SSA, peaked at #792 for girls in 1885.
