About Tue

Succinct and gentle but with a strong meaning, Tue is a Danish variation of the Old Norse Tófi, a nickname derived from the Old Norse names Þórfreðr ("Thor's peace") or Þórfastr ("Thor is firm"). An equivalent to the Norwegian and Swedish Tord, it has been notably borne by artist Tue Greenfort and boxer Tue Bjørn Thomsen.

The name may also be used as an alternative spelling of the Vietnamese name, Tuệ, meaning "bright, intelligent". Pronounced as TWEH, it is associated with the Medieval Buddhist poet and teacher, Tuệ Trung.

In English speaking countries however, it may be interpreted as a short form of Tuesday.

Pronounced TOO-uh.

As of October 2026, Tue ranked #8370 for boys in US births in 1992 SSA, peaked at #8071 for boys in 1987.
