Psalms

The Book of Psalms is an important and lyrical piece of Christian and Jewish scripture. While Psalm (singular) is now a gold-leafed celebrity baby name, Psalms still feels spiritual and freshly-lifted from the Bible.

Deriving from the Greek word psalmoi, psalms translates to "the words accompanying instrumental music", and in a Christian context, it refers to the hymns and songs of praise in the Book of Psalms.

As a name, Psalms joins the growing list of spiritual words that contemporary Christian parents are choosing for their children, among which Halo, Promise and Blessing are in the Top 1000. Neither Psalm or Psalms have caught up just yet, with Psalms being given to just 30 babies in 2023.

Psalms is also given to boys, where it ranks #3360 in the US.

Pronounced SAHMZ.

As of October 2026, Psalms ranked #9321 in US births in 2025 SSA, peaked at #8924 in 2022.
