Mesiah

Mesiah is a masculine name that appears to be a variant spelling of 'Messiah,' which carries profound religious significance as a title meaning 'the anointed one' or 'deliverer' in Hebrew tradition. This alternative spelling offers a more unique, personalized approach while maintaining the powerful connotations of the original. Mesiah began appearing on birth certificates in the United States primarily in the early 2000s, representing parents' desire for names with spiritual significance but individualized expression. The name conveys strength, purpose, and destiny. Despite potential controversy around using sacred titles as given names in some communities, Mesiah has continued to gain modest popularity, particularly in families seeking names with profound meaning and inspirational qualities.

Mesiah is also given to girls.

Pronounced muh-SY-uh.

As of October 2026, Mesiah ranked #19539 in US births in 2007 SSA.
