About Lucence
A rare member of the Luc- family, Lucence ultimately comes from the Latin lucens meaning "shining". A French form of Lucentia, via the Roman Lucentius, in English it may bring to mind the term lucent, used to describe something that's either luminous or clear enough to let light through. Additionally, the related lucency is used in medicine, when reading X-rays.
Pronounced loo-SENS.
