Lorrie

Lorrie for boys

Lorrie as a masculine name represents a diminutive form of Lawrence, derived from the Latin 'Laurentius,' meaning 'from Laurentum' (an ancient Roman city). While more commonly recognized as a feminine nickname for Laura or Lorraine, Lorrie has historical usage as a boy's name, particularly in Scotland and parts of the United States. The name peaked in popularity during the mid-20th century but has since become increasingly rare for boys. It carries a friendly, approachable quality with its soft sounds and informal feel. The masculine version maintains connections to the strong meaning behind Lawrence, which refers to the laurel tree – a symbol of victory and honor in classical traditions. Today, male Lorries might embrace its uniqueness and vintage charm in an era of reviving retro names.
