Kenobi

Luke and Leia were the original Star Wars names, but now parents are looking to Jedi surnames for baby name inspiration. Kenobi debuted on the charts in 2020 and has been steadily rising ever since.

Obi-Wan Kenobi was based on General Makabe Rokurōta from the Japanese film The Hidden Fortress, which may give clues as to his name's meaning. Kenobi is possibly derived from the Japanese words ken, meaning "sword", and obi, "belt".

Pronounced kuh-NOH-bee.

As of October 2026, Kenobi ranked #11375 for boys in US births in 2025 SSA, peaked at #5748 for boys in 2022.
