About Kariyah
A modern feeling choice, with that on trend K initial and a similar ending to the likes of Sariyah, Zariyah, Aaliyah and Mariah, Kariyah could be inspired by a number of different sources. Given to 70 girls in the US in 2024, its was used more than three times as often than it was in 2023.
On one hand, Kariyah could simply be an elaboration of multicultural Kara, inspired by the endings of the aforementioned names; this could give it the meanings "beloved" or "friend". Alternatively, it may be created from the Biblical Zakariah, as a feminization of sorts, in-tune with names such as Azariah. In this case, it would mean "God has remembered".
Other possible sources include the Greek nature name, Karya, meaning "hazel tree" and the Russian Karya, a diminutive of Karina. There's also a possibility that if comes from the Arabic name, Khayriyya meaning "charitable, good deeds", while others suggest it has its roots in the Arabic word qarya meaning "village".
Pronounced ka-RY-a.
As of October 2026, Kariyah ranked #4118 for girls in US births in 2025 SSA, peaked at #2537 for girls in 2024.
