Poetic and airy, but perhaps a little more grounded than its rare longer form, Ilmari is a Finnish name, with connections to mythology. Ilmarinen is the creator and personification of the sky, who can work with metal and create almost anything. His name comes from ilma, meaning "air" and he's associated with creativity and curiosity.

Notably borne by footballer Ilmari Niskanen and politician Ilmari Nurminen, the name is predominantly used in the middle spot in Finland (and occasionally Sweden).
