Carrey offers the appeal of familiar sounds with unique spelling, appealing to parents seeking something recognizable yet individual. Its unisex quality gives it versatility, though in contemporary usage it leans feminine. The name projects a friendly, approachable character with a touch of Celtic heritage.

Carrey for boys

Carrey is a masculine name that likely originated as an Irish or Scottish surname before transitioning to given name usage. The name is derived from the Gaelic 'Ó Ciardha' meaning 'descendant of Ciardha,' with Ciardha relating to 'dark' or 'black.' Carrey gained some recognition through association with Canadian-American actor Jim Carrey, though as a first name it remains relatively uncommon. The spelling with the double 'r' gives it a distinctive quality compared to the more standard 'Carey.' This name balances traditional Celtic roots with contemporary appeal, making it suitable for parents seeking something recognizable yet not overly popular.
