Gender-Neutral Celebrity Baby Names

Lenon is a modern masculine name that appears to be a variant spelling of Lennon. Its origins can be traced to Irish surnames, particularly from the Gaelic 'Ó Leannáin' meaning 'descendant of Leannán'. The name gained popularity in the late 20th century, likely influenced by the fame of musician John Lennon. Lenon offers a slightly simplified spelling while maintaining the strong, distinctive sound. While less common than Lennon, Lenon has a contemporary feel that appeals to parents seeking a name with musical connections and Irish heritage without being overly popular. The name projects a creative, artistic image while remaining masculine and approachable.

This eye-catchingly unique name was coined by Cameron Diaz and Benji Madden, who gave it to their daughter, born in 2020. It may derive from the Latin radix, meaning "root", or perhaps from the Slavic name element rad, meaning "happy; willing".

A mellow sounding surname, Carroway could work as a fresh spin on Caroline and a unique way to get the nicknames Coco or Carrie. Reminiscent of the earthy, bitter herb, caraway, and with a touch of literary style thanks to Nick Carraway, narrator The Great Gatsby, Carroway might be one to watch out for.

Derived from the Old English gara and weg, the name means "path or road to a triangular piece of land" and was originally found among an Anglo-Saxon tribe who lived near such a place.

While the name has yet to feature as a given name in the US stats, it was chosen by reality TV star, Sadie Robertson Huff, who named her daughter Kit Carroway in 2025. Carroway is the star's own middle name, and likely her grandmother's maiden name.

Whether you consider it a word name or a spelling variation of Armie, this name maintains its meaning. Jill Wagner used it for her daughter in 2020.

Romance may initially strike you as too ardent and whimsical of a name for a baby, but given that the likes of Love and Dream have been a fast-rising name in recent years — not to mention soundalike Romy — Romance is well-suited to our current naming climate.
Romance could also be considered a literary name, through its definition of "a love story", along with its associations with medieval tales of chivalry and with the Romantic writers and poets of the 18th and 19th century. It might then appeal to those who also like Poem and Story.

Currently, it has only ranked as a boys name in the US but this could change in the future, especially if parents take inspiration from influencers Francesca Farago and Jesse Sullivan. They used Romance as a middle name for their son in 2024, while their daughter received the first name Poetry, and we could see some parents deciding to use Romance "Romy" for a girl.

Ice officially joined the baby name pool when rapper Gucci Mane chose it for his son, born in December 2020. It briefly ranked for girls in 2021, but has since been predominantly, though very quietly, used for boys. The name the rapper and his wife Keyisha Ka'oir Davies chose for their daughter, however, Iceland, has proved more popular. Iceland is on the rise for girls, while similar Icelynn entered the Top 1000 in 2024.

One thing to bear in mind with this name: ICE is associated with the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement, an acronym that is known outside the States too. Icelynn or Icelyn may then be better options, though there's always vintage Icie to consider, which ranked in the Top 1000 from 1881 to 1913, and there's the mystical Eirlys and Isolde too, with their wintery meanings.

Ro- names are on the rise — think Roman, Rory, and Rowan — but straightforward and streamlined Row (and Rowe, Roe, and Ro) takes this trend to the next level. The pared-down single syllable gives Row an ultra-cool edge.

Morgan Stewart and Jordan McGraw named their daughter Row Renggli in 2021. The baby's middle name is a Swiss-German surname name meaning "curved" or "slender."

Model Jessica Hart brought this word name into the spotlight in 2022, when she chose it for her newborn son — brother to Baby-Rae. Glorious has historically only been used as a girl name, but it works equally well on boys.

Worn round the neck and close to the heart, lockets are often used to hold small items of sentimental value, like a photo, a lock of hair, or a letter. Used as a surname, but rarely as a given name, Locket could have potential given its similarity in sound or letters to Lottie, Laurel, and Scarlett — and because of its sentimental meaning.
In fact, popular influencers Francesca Farago and Jesse Sullivan chose Locket for their son in 2024, to join twin sister Poetry. It's rare enough that it is currently gender-neutral and with nicknames Lock, Lockie, Lottie, and Lettie, it could go either way if it does catch on.
