150+ European Baby Boy Names

european boy names

European baby names have a long and illustrious history of use in the US. After all, many of the most popular boy names today – contemporary classics like Leo and Lucas, Mason and Mateo, Oliver and Owen – have European origins.

But there is so much cultural and linguistic variety within Europe, and so many intriguing European baby names still waiting to be discovered!

We’ve scoured the Top 100 lists of all of the European nations which regularly publish their baby name data, in search of names that are widely used in their native regions, but rare in English-speaking countries.

If you’re looking for a baby name to honor your heritage, this list is a great place to start. (And you can find even more cool European boy names in our full list, here.)

Or perhaps you’re simply looking for a way to freshen up an old favorite. Henrik could make a strong and striking alternative to Henry, Johan might honor an ancestral John, or how about Maxence for an unexpected route to Max?

Here is a selection of 150+ of our favorite under-the-radar European baby names for boys.
