Names That Mean Strong

A variation of Gruffudd, Gruffydd, and Griffith, this rugged and ancient Welsh name is said with the th of then at the end. While its variation Gruffydd has appeared in the UK charts, this spin is rare.

Gryffydd

Fresher than Andrea but not so out there as Andrewina, Andeline is a sweet, rare choice, with the familiar sounds of Adeline and Andie.
It could be considered a feminine form of Andrew, giving it the meaning "strong, manly", however, there's also the chance that it has Germanic roots instead. As such, it could link to Adallinda or Andric, giving it meanings such as a "noble and tender" or "zeal, fervor".

Other sources link it to the name Andel, used as a diminutive to Anna, and as a Czech word for "angel".

With sweet nicknames Andie, Annie, Della or Dina, it may surprise you to learn that Andeline has never appeared in the US stats. It can be said with a -line or -leen ending.
