A modern Icelandic compound name, Bertmarí blends Björt ("bright, light, shining") with Marí, a Nordic form of Marie or Mary. As such, it may be interpreted to mean "shining beloved", "bright drop of the sea", or more spiritually, "light of (the Virgin) Mary". The name was officially added to the list of approved names in Iceland back in 2021.

Miranada appears to be a variant or elaboration of Miranda, a name created by Shakespeare for his play "The Tempest." Derived from Latin "mirandus" meaning "worthy of admiration, wonderful," Miranda has literary associations with innocence and wonder. This particular form, Miranada, likely emerged through spelling variation or possible combination with the name Amanda. While lacking historical usage as a distinct name, it maintains the melodic quality of Miranda with an extra syllable giving it a unique rhythm. The name evokes the same qualities of beauty and admiration as its Shakespearean origin. As an uncommon variant, Miranada offers parents a way to reference the literary classic while providing their child with a distinctive version of a recognized name.

This name was likely inspired by the Shalamar Gardens in modern day Pakistan, a popular tourist attraction that was built back in the 17th-century, by the Mughal emperor Shah Jahan (better known for the Taj Mahal). This spelling was popularized first by a perfume in the 1920s, and then by the 1954 movie, The Princess of the Nile whose central character was called Shalimar

The exact etymology of the name is unknown but theories include that it comes from the Arabic shah al-'imarat meaning "master of buildings; from the Sanskrit shala and the Turkic mar meaning "abode of joy, place of pleasure"; from Kashmiri, to mean "black soil for growing rice"; from the Persian to mean "garden of the black-eyed sweetheart"; or from Punjabi, meaning "God's curse".

While the name is feminine leaning in the US, Egypt, and the Philippines, it is masculine in Pakistan, and unisex in India.

The added 'h' at the end gives this classic name a slightly unique twist while maintaining its elegant sound and meaning. Miranda gained popularity through Shakespeare's character in 'The Tempest' and saw peaks of usage in the 1990s. Mirandah has a romantic, somewhat ethereal quality that balances strength and femininity. Though less common than the traditional spelling, it may appeal to parents who appreciate the original name's meaning and history but desire something slightly different. The name carries connotations of beauty, intelligence, and independence.
