Measia

A Portuguese name of uncertain etymology, Mecia is a sweet but substantial choice. Borne by the 13th century noblewoman, Mécia Lopes de Haro, today it may be better associated with actress and model, Mecia Simson, notable for her role in the Netflix series, The Witcher.

Likely of Latin origin, there are several possible meanings of Mecia. Some sources suggest it comes from Demetria, meaning "earth mother", while others believe it is a form of Marcia meaning "warlike". It could derive from the Latin mecus meaning "mouse" or it may have been adapted from the name Mercedes. Alternatively, it may be a feminine form of Matias or Mateus, or of the Roman name Mincius meaning "thin".

The actress Mecia Simson pronounces her name as MEE-shuh, which could like it to a short form of Michael or to a Persian name meaning "beautiful, pretty".
