Spurgeon entered the mainstream name lexicon when it was chosen for their son by Ben Seward and wife Jessa Duggar, from the US reality show 19 Kids and Counting starring their large family. Spurgeon is the surname of a popular 19th century British preacher, Charles Spurgeon, and has popped up occasionally near the bottom of the Social Security Administration's popularity ranking. It is an English surname by way of Scandinavia, thought to be a variation on the Norse name Sprigin, which means "little branch". Steffen is a masculine name of German origin, serving as a variant of the name Stephen or Stefan. It derives from the Greek 'Stephanos,' meaning 'crown' or 'garland,' symbolizing honor and achievement.
