Influencer couple Rachel and Jordan Flom put Brisbane on the baby name map when they used it for one of their triplet sons, born in 2024. Australian place names — from Adelaide to Sydney to Victoria — have long been favorites among parents, but Brisbane has a more modern, gender-neutral appeal.

The Australian city was named after the Brisbane River, itself named after Sir Thomas Brisbane, a governor of New South Wales. Sir Brisbane was of Scottish descent, as was his surname — a traditional Scottish clan name from a nickname for one with broken bones or who would break others' bones. Ultimately, it is derived from the Scottish Gaelic bris, meaning "break" and the Old English bān, "bone".

Ory is a concise masculine name with multiple possible origins. It may function as a diminutive of names like Gregory, Orion, or Orlando, offering a friendly, approachable alternative to these longer forms. In Hebrew contexts, Ory (אורי) means 'my light' and exists as a standalone name. The name also has connections to Old Norse, potentially deriving from 'örr' meaning 'arrow.' In French usage, it could relate to 'aurique,' referring to gold. Ory's brevity makes it appealing in contemporary naming trends that favor short, distinctive names. While never particularly common in English-speaking countries, the name has seen occasional usage throughout history. Its versatility across cultural contexts and straightforward pronunciation contribute to its subtle charm as an uncommon yet accessible choice.

Aodh, the name of the Celtic sun god meaning "fire", was common in early Scotland. It's also the origin of the wildly popular Irish name Aidan (originally Aodhán). Its pronunciation varies depending on region: AY or EE are Irish pronunciations, and in Scotland it's closer to UH, and has been Anglicized as Hugh.
