About Shabana
A feminine form of the Arabic name Shaban, also used as the name for the eighth month of the Islamic calendar. More literally, the name comes from the word shaʿaba meaning "to scatter, branch out, to spread", a name bestowed on the month possibly because it was originally a time when ancient tribes would split up to look for new land and new water supplies. An alternative theory is that it may mean "to be in between two things", which, in the case of the month, it exists between the sacred month of Rajab and the month of Ramadan.
Pronounced shah-BAH-nah.
As of October 2026, Shabana ranked #17637 for girls in US births in 2002 SSA, peaked at #6849 for girls in 1985.
