About Mayari

Mayari is (one of several) moon deities from Tagalog and Philippine mythology, also considered the goddess of the night, beauty, war, revolution, and strength. Melodic and gentler in sound, it nevertheless feels powerful.

In Kapampangan mythology, Mayari is the daughter of the Bathala, the creator of the world. who fought with her brother, Apolaki, to rule the world. Her brother struck and blinded her in one eye, and, in his distress at harming her, agreed to rule the earth together: he by day, and she by night.

Also the name of a place in Cuba, it has risen up the US stats in recent years, with nearly 50 girls called Mayari in the latest count.

Pronounced mah-YAH-ree.

As of October 2026, Mayari ranked #3235 for girls in US births in 2025 SSA.
