Rock Star Baby Names: From Ace to Zuma

Rock musicians have gotten the rap of being the most extreme baby namers, which certainly is true for some but by no means all.  This led me to wonder if their choices bore any relationship to the kind of music they played: would the Dixie Chicks, for example, pick names with a countryish flavor, Atomic Kitten more edgy?

And how about within the groups– were their choices in sync?  Since they functioned basically  as families on the road, how did their kids’ names work as sibsets?  In the examples listed below, you can see certain similarities—such as a Beatles theme running through the  Oasis offspring, and several other musical references, including Jagger, Les Paul, Elvis, Madonna, Bebop and even Rock .

What a fun list! It’s interesting to see that each group could be siblings. Wonder if bandmates fight over names? “No, I’m naming my son Les Paul!”

The Spice Girls, you got to love them and the children’s name. Les Paul is such a cool name. Fender, Hohner and Yamaha are going to be popping up all over the place now.

I love a lot of these names! But the Spice Girls and their children’s names will always be number one for me! Every time I see Bluebell I wish I could use it! Alas, I am not Geri Halliwell, nor nearly as fabulous!

I think Blink and Spice Girls had the best Band-sets!

I’ve always wanted to use Bluebell! I didn’t realize anyone else had used that name, makes me feel like my choice isn’t as outlandish as everyone else thinks.

My brother loves anything blink-182. I like them too, but their naming choices (with the exception of Jonah and Luella, not my favorites) are the best!

I also really like some of Hanson’s choices. I hated them as a little girl but River and Penelope are way up there on my list.

I think Hanson’s are the best! It is nice to see them all in one place!

Atomic Kitten (surprisingly) and Coldplay have the best name choices, in my opinion.

I’ve never really warmed to Arden, but I think Arden and Benjamin would be a fantastic sib set!

So glad to see you put all the Hanson names on here because some are pretty unique (and because I just met them again the other night! haha) Love Monroe, we named a foster kitten after him. Also, a lot of their kids go by their middle names as well, like Isaac and Taylor do.
Great list!

My favorite is the coldplay set, love it! No Doubt is in second, followed by Hansen!… Most of them work great together actually… But Aaron and Arren? Come on U2!

I want to get a stage name but it has to be something so unique and out of the ordinary!!!!!!!!! i have no idea theres so many names to choose

I like Ace Joseph but would never be brave enough to use Ace. There seem to be a lot of little boys named Beckett recently, which is funny because when I first heard the name, all I could think of was how much it sounds like “bucket”, but obviously others don’t make that connection.

Rockin’ Baby Names For You To Consider « WXRT Says:

[…] Most of us struggle when it comes to naming babies – do we name them family names? After famous figures? Popular names? Old names? What about names we’ve just liked since we were, say, still playing house in pre-school? Apparently, these typical thoughts do not apply to the rockstars mentioned in this article from Nameberry.com.
