Gender: Female Origin of Amalisa: Modern invented name

Amalisa Origin and Meaning

The name Amalisa is a girl's name .

Amalisa is a smoosh of the prefix of Amabel and Amanda, which means lovable, and Lisa, a diminutive of Elizabeth that's long been used on its own. In some ways, it's an improvement on all of its root names -- fresher and more distinctive than Amanda or Lisa and easier to understand than Amabel, which is often confused with Annabel. Though Amalisa can be similarly confused with Annalisa which will inevitably become annoying.

I added this name to the website Behind the Name, but it got deleted. I think they are saying that a few of the names I added don't exist, but all are in use. I knew of a Penelopeanne, in the poetry small press. Some of the people I know did know her personally. Sadly, she died very young. Yet, apparently that isn't a real name. I admit that it is an unlikely combination, but it was her real name. What constitutes "real" here? I hope they won't delete Charlica. I have researched that, and other, names online. I guess it's up to the admins of all these sites which names they include, but I think it's worth mentioning. If your name or your child's name is Amalisa, I think it's beautiful, and maybe you can contact Behind the Name, and tell them that it is being used, and justifies an entry.
