Why complicate a pretty name and make it ugly

cindor Says:

Zelliew Says:

I agree - This totally spoils Abigail

CupcakeGirl13 Says:

Abbiegayle? Your are going to ruin a name like that? The spelling even looks weird! Just PLEASE, for your own daughter, go with Abigail!!

PuppyPaw Says:

I know right? Just PLEASE stick with Abigail!

hamwan Says:

The spelling is way too weird

Zoey_Artemisia Says:

Good lord why would you do this to your baby?

DearestJules Says:

It's just a respelling of Abigail. You change Gail to Gayle (which is a real name on its own) and change Abi to Abbie (which is what most Abigails go by anyway). See? Not too hard. Yes, it will get misspelled a lot, but that's true of a lot of names.

LcLauver Says:

no, not okay. because it's not about what the parent would like--it isn't their name--it's about what a new human will be called and need to live with.

DearestJules Says:

I honestly don't think Abbiegayle is that bad. Some people just like weird spellings, OK?

Amber Says:

I digress. Abbiegayle would likely change her name.

madmaddie Says:

A cruel butchering of a gorgeous name with rich history. Seriously, why not Abigail, instead of...this?

To parents of any Abbiegayle, your child will never get a decent job. Someone sees this on a résumé, and they throw it out without looking at anything else. A sad fact, but that’s just karma for bestowing this thing on your child.

scblovesnames Says:

This name is icky. I like Abigail. Gail on its own is pretty. This spelling variation,

scblovesnames Says:

This is totally not right. The beautiful Abigail is perfectly fine. One of the names that was is on the list for a girl, but not in the top five due to the extreme popularity (considering it as a middle name but currently in love with something entirely different: Clara Nerys).

Oh and I might add that Gayle is a beautiful name in it's own right and if one wants to use it, one should just use it instead of tacking it onto the beautiful Abigail.

Shishi Says:

This just makes my head hurt.

Eva Thyssen Says:

Absolutely horrendous.

hopefullydespair Says:

This doesn't even match the pronunciation of Abigail.

mabespark Says:

Oh no. I pity anyone who carries this name.

PeachyOwl Says:

Why is this even listed on Nameberry? Why don't people realise that they can call their daughter Abigail and call her Abbie

Guest Says:

Teen mom's 5th circle of Hell

peigin.leitir.moir Says:

Hahaha! I totally agree!

OliviaSarah Says:

Literally why is this even registered as a name? Do humans called Abbiegayle even exist or was this a bit of an affectation?

Renee5322 Says:

I don't usually like to be rude about names, but this... THING... is an abomination.

raevynstar Says:

Abigail is great. Minor variations I can see because I know a person on this site with one (I don't want to embarrass them so I won't name them). But this is just.......ick. Why?

lesliemarion Says:
