Despite their similarities, Romi and Romy are not related etymologically. Romy is a diminutive of Rosemary, Romilly, or Rome, while Romi is an independent Hebrew name and a popular baby girl name in Israel. Meaning "my exaltation"

However, many parents in the US will still Romi as an alternate spelling of Romy (just like Remy and Remi) and as such, both versions are on the rise: Romy was given to nearly 500 baby girls and Romi used for 333 in 2025. A few dozen baby boys also received each spelling of the name.

 Zebulon is the name of a song by Rufus Wainwright, and Margaret Atwood used it for a character in her MaddAddam trilogy. It was also the name of the grandpa on The Waltons.
