Names That Mean Newly

Julia Styles used Newcomb as the middle name for her son Strummer.

Newcomb

A lively but melodic name of Hawaiian origin, Liko'ula was recently chosen by former MMA fighter and actress Ronda Rousey and her husband Travis Browne. The name possibly combines liko meaning "bud or newly opened leaf" with 'ula meaning "red".

In Hawaiian culture, red can be a sacred color, associated with royalty, while leaf buds could reflect growth and renewal. The name might then be interpreted to mean "sacred bud", for example, or simply "red leaf bud".

Liko'ula Browne joined sister La'akea and half brothers Kaleo and Keawe, their names chosen to honor their father's heritage.
