Names That Mean Extreme

Tai, which rhymes with Kai, is a unisex name with a range of international references. It means the equivalent of "too much" in Chinese but is also used as a Maori name meaning "the tide" and in Romanian means "yours." While it's only ever ranked in the U.S. Top 1000 as a girls' name, during the height of the popularity of Olympic skater Tai Babilonia, Tai makes a simple intriguing modern choice for either gender.

Skater Tai Babilonia brought this sleek modern name to the world's attention. Pronounced "tie."

A wild word name in the realms of Prairie, Wilder, Ridge, and Summit, Frontier is an undiscovered option, most literally describing the boundary or border between two places and the extreme limit of understanding into a particular area. More broadly however, it is associated with the "American Frontier", or the "Old Wild West", when settlers in the US expanded their territories towards the specific coast.

In popular imagination, Frontier brings to mind cowboys, Old Western movies, Yellowstone National Park, and the works of writers such as James Fenimore Cooper, Zane Grey, Owen Wister, and Willa Cather.
