Feronia
Feronia Origin and Meaning
In Etruscan mythology, Feronia was the goddess of wildlife, liberty, fertility, health, and abundance, who also granted freedom to slaves and rights to the poor. She was worshipped by the Sabine and Etruscan people of ancient Italy and was later adopted into Roman religions.
Originating from a Sabine word related to the Latin fĕrus, Feronia means "uncultivated, untamed, wild, of the fields and wood, not controlled by cultivation", making this an interesting possibility for nature lovers, rebels, and mythology lovers alike.
The name of an asteroid and species of tree, it has yet to catch on a given name for babies but with the recent interest in mythological gems and the possibility of nicknames Ronnie, Ro, Ronja, and Effi, this might appeal to some.
