Ellian Origin and Meaning

The name Ellian is a girl's name meaning "Yahweh is God, pledged to God; sun; my God has answered".

With on-trend sounds and a cool, slightly unisex feel, Ellian was used for the main character in the 2024 Netflix animated movie, Spellbound. In the movie, it might be a smooshed form of her parents' names (Ellsmere and Solan), but it could equally be a form of Éliane, a French name related to the Greek Aelius, which means "sun".

Alternatively, it might be a twist on two Hebrew names: the masculine name Elian, meaning "Yahweh is God", or Eliana, meaning "my God has answered".
