Three Origin and Meaning

The name Three is a boy's name of English origin meaning "number three, third".

While Tripp, Trey, and Tres have been used in the past to celebrate the number three — whether that be for a third generation junior or a third son — more recently, simply using the word Three has become an option. Whether parents consider it their lucky number, associate with the Holy Trinity, or want to honor a particular position on a sports team, Three has been given to at least 16 boys in recent years.

While that is a small number, it's possible that the name is being used more in the middle spot. Baseballer Bryce Harper and influencer Kayla Harper chose the name Hayes Three for their son in 2025, Three being a nod to the jersey number Bryce wears with the Philadelphia Phillies.
