A rare name from Greek mythology that would equally fit into a fantasy or cyber-punk world. First borne by a son of Zeus and Eurymedusa, the name derives from myrmēx meaning "ant", with one version of the myth suggesting that Zeus approached Eurymedusa in the form of an ant.
 
The name also appears as the name of an ancient Thessalian tribe, who are interpreted either as descendants of the aforementioned Myrmidon, or as a group of resilient worker-ants, unaffected by plague, who Zeus turned into humans. In the latter case, the name might also come from murmēdṓn meaning "ant-nest".
 
Also appearing in the games Fire Emblem, Dragon's Dogma and Warcraft, it is an (as yet) undiscovered mythological name.
