Liliom Origin and Meaning
The name Liliom is a boy's name of Hungarian origin meaning "lily".
A floral and unisex Hungarian name, Liliom feels close enough to Liam and to Lilian that it could work across any gender. Derived from the Latin lilum, it has been used since the 9th or 10th century in Hungary and has a literary history, thanks to the play Liliom by Ferenc Molnár, in which it was used for a male character.
The play went on to inspire the musical Carousel along with a number of other films, though as a name, Liliom remains a very rare choice.
