Daphne's origins may be Greek, but it's seen by Americans as quintessentially British—as in the Daphne Moon character on Frasier and the heroine of the romantic drama Bridgerton. Janus is usually depicted as a two-faced god facing in opposite directions, since he looks both to the future and the past. Minerva Pott is a character in Dickens's novel Pickwick Papers. In Harry Potter, Minerva McGonagall is a Witch and Deputy Headmistress of Hogswarts, and in the Artemis Fowl books, Minerva Paradizo is equally intellectual. There's also a series of kids' mystery books centering around a Minerva Clark.

I love so many mythological names but some of them are far too wacky to grace (or rather burden) a child with, so they are relegated to the potential pet list. These myth names and names relating to myths and legends are ones that I've found and would actually consider using. The list will probably be added to regularly as I come across more and more beautiful names. Currently, most are from Greek mythology (because I have studied Greek myth the most), but there are some from Roman mythology and a couple from Norse mythology and Arthurian legends.
