Baby Number 3!

I'm having my third baby, a little boy! I really like Nameberry's Badass Baby Names list, and the other like it, so names similar to those are definitely my top choices.
  1. Asher
    • Origin:

      Hebrew
    • Meaning:

      "fortunate, blessed, happy one"
    • Description:

Asher—an excellent, soft and sensitive Old Testament choice—is a baby boy name on the rise, and is a Nameberry biblical favorite.
  2. Breccan
    • Origin:

      Irish
    • Meaning:

      "freckled, speckled"
    • Description:

This Irish name of a saint from the Isle of Aran also appears in myth and fantasy fiction, giving it an intriguing, mystical air.
  3. Bronx
    • Origin:

      Place name
    • Description:

Rockers Ashlee Simpson and Pete Wentz put a new baby name on the map when they chose this downscale New York borough name for their son. The Bronx, the place, was named for early Dutch settler Jonas Bronck. Might Bronx become the next Brooklyn? We'd be surprised if it did.
  4. Creed
    • Origin:

      English word name
    • Description:

Creed appeared on the US Top 1000 for the first time in over a century in 2016; it was the year's second-fastest-rising boys' name. It probably got a bump from the seventh movie in the Rocky series, called simply Creed. Some may know it from the character on the popular television show The Office.
  5. Hendrix
    • Origin:

Dutch and German, from first name Hendrik
    • Meaning:

      "estate ruler"
    • Description:

Hendrix is one of those hip rock and roll names, like Lennon, Jagger and Presley, that have been used by fellow celebs and others, to honor the seminal guitarist/singer/songwriter Jimi. And this one has the trendy 'x' ending, as well, helping to propel it up the charts and into the spotlight.
  6. Judson
    • Origin:

      English
    • Meaning:

      "son of Jordan"
    • Description:

Judson remained in the US Top 1000 every year until it dropped off in 1987. In 2014, the named rejoined the list. With Hudson gaining in popularity, Judson—a possible alternative to Justin—could follow its path.
  7. Kingsley
    • Origin:

      English
    • Meaning:

      "king's meadow"
    • Description:

Kingsley is a sophisticated Harry Potter name that entered the US Top 1000 in 2013.
  8. Maddox
    • Origin:

      Welsh
    • Meaning:

      "son of Madoc"
    • Description:

Maddox, a previously obscure Welsh family name with a powerfully masculine image, suddenly came into the spotlight when Angelina Jolie chose it for her son in 2003. By the following year it was in the middle of the Top 1000, and it has risen since.
  9. Thatcher
    • Origin:

      English occupational name
    • Meaning:

      "roof thatcher"
    • Description:

Thatcher is an open and friendly freckle-faced surname, fresher sounding than Tyler or Taylor, that dates back to the days of thatched-roof cottages. It is catching on with modern parents—it reached the US Top 1000 for the first time in 2013.
