I disagree with Elsie being unlikely. I can see it making a comeback as a natural successor to the Emily/Emma/Ella/Ellie trend, and it’s close to Elise, which is also popular. It’s cute and girly and Elsa, Elspeth and Elisabeth are all good choices for people wanting a full name.

I’d love to see Madison make a comeback for boys, it so ugly on a girl. Candy however, lol.
My favs are Rio and Sky for boys, just my style of names. Perfect.
For girls I do enjoy Vienna, I’m surprised it hasn’t caught on

This was fun to read, but I was a little disappointed to not see Jimmy Stewart.
Of course, I’m sure the article could have gone on for days with all the classic movie actors people are disappointed to not see, so I won’t complain too much.
One of the reasons I’m seriously considering George for a son is because of Jimmy Stewart as George Bailey in It’s a Wonderful Life.

@Dovah: Yes, I would have loved to have had the space to add Jimmy Stewart–he had some other great character names in addition to George–Guthrie, Glyn, Macaulay, Jefferson, Mace, Wyatt, Clovis,Linus–plus the unlikely Azel and Ransom.

I also disagree that Elsie is unlikely. It seems right on track to be huge, actually.
I also LOVE Philadelphia and think Minnie could come back.
Agent99 Says:
Respectfully disagree about my favorite actor Clark Gable, his best onscreen names have been Jules, Duke and Giovanni imo
Scrambledmegs Says:
Cary Grant as Madison is dreamy! I also agree that Philadelphia is fresh. It gives me the same feel as the rising Delphine, but with different nicknames… On second thought, you can’t call a little girl “Philly,” can you?
BerryBry Says:
I love Soledad but Solidad seems nicer to me. Elsie and Minnie are on their way up, I think. I Know a Philly (Phyllis). It’s lovely!

Still can’t get over how good-looking Frank Sinatra was. Wowsa.
So glad to see you still pushing for Dinah which is a fabulous name. Despite that silly song…
linda Says:
R_J–I’ve been pushing for Dinah since Pam and I started writing name books–glad to see I’ve finally found an ally!

For Marilyn Monroe, I think the most unlikely would be Sugar, from Some Like It Hot.
