Happy New Year Names!
Beatrice
Beatrice is defined as “she who brings happiness,” a wonderful aura to project onto a little baby Bea. A literary inspiration for Dante and Shakespeare, the classic Beatrice is definitely moving back into popularity. Sister-name Beatrix, as in the name of the creator of Peter Rabbit, is a livelier possibility.

My favourite on here is Beatrix. I much prefer it spelt like this because it is a bit brighter and more awake than Beatrice.

Don’t name your kid Beatrice! Everyone I know uses it as another way to say the word “bitch” without actually saying it. I don’t know how widespread this is but most people I know have heard of this.
I like Annee. How is it pronounced? It sounds similar to my daughter’s name. I also like Nova.
HerMajesty Says:
I love Beatrix! Nova and Felix are cool too. The rest are okayish, but to me, Zelig is a little weird…..

Naomi
Nova (could be beautiful as double barreled name, Novalee, Nova-Mae, Nova Maeve)
Zelig (nn Zee, like Selig too)
Dagny (spunky)

Laetitia – I really wanted to like this one the look of it is appealing as we’ll as the history but have a hard time with the “titi” in it. What names successfully (obscurely) pull off that letter sequence?
Samantha-Bianca Says:
Great names! Only problem I have is sadly with Dagny. Great name, but in Australia, “dag” is a pejorative term for someone who lacks care in their appearance or often looks dishevelled or has an uncouth manner. It’s not a seriously mean thing to call someone, it’s often used in fun…but not something you want to put in your kid’s name.
witchgreens Says:
I had a close friend named Dagny growing up and I think it’s a great name. I also really like Nova, though I’d probably only use it as a mn because it feels somehow incomplete or too short for a 1st name, even with 2 syllables.
Annie85 Says:
Beatrice and Felix are my favorites from this list, though Felicity isn’t far behind.
stripedsocks Says:
Yiddish speakers use Zelda as a feminine form of Zelig (meaning lucky, happy) and while Zelig doesn’t do much for me, I love Zelda.
Felicia/Felicity and Beatrice are my favourites listed for girls – since Zelda wasn’t in, lol – and Asher for the boys.
I really like Laetitia but I think maybe more as a middle name since I forsee much mispronunciation in its future.
Since my list would be so skewed to the girls, I must put in a vote for Noam for the boys. Its related to Naomi and refreshing compared to Noah.

I love Beatriz and Beatrice is nice! Asher has some great meanings but it’s just not my style. Feliz means happy in Spanish and that’s a bit like Felix…Leticia Herod was the winner of Britain and Ireland’s Next Top Model and there is a Spanish princess! But Zelig feels a bit strange and too unusual to me. I love Neo!Leo is my fave eo name but they are all nice!! Go Nova!!! And Nora and Nola for that matter! I love the soft v in the middle! I lke Annie but spelt that way and I know a girl called Amie.
